I'm also having the same problem. Phone worked fine for months then stopped working a month ago. Sent new adaptor - didn't work. The problem's been 'escalated' twice but still no resolution. I'm now waiting for a new livebox to be sent.
I did get one months refund from Orange after expressing my frustration!

how did you get escalated ivegiven my details 3 times and still no one has called mei havent had my phone working for 5 weeks now.. ive just written them a letter ecause it sems my phone calls do no good at all whats your secret???/
Finally got the talk service back after more than a month without it, numerous calls to technial support, escalations etc. I was sent a new Livebox after getting rather angry. New livebox did the trick, but you also have to have it reactivated which means you get a new number. Also had to do 'factory reset' of new livebox. Can't wait for the next thunder storm and have to go through all this again.
I've had the same problem where there is no dial tone but the phone light on the livebox flashes when a call comes in. Been trying to sort it out with technical support since June and they are now 'escalating' it to another team. I had no problems for about 7 months with Orange then suddenly the phone went dead & not long after that I got the dreaded flashing @ light! My broadband is now working again but still no luck with the talk service. Had a new phone adaptor & gone through all the numerous scripted solutions that technical support has. Anyone else feel like they're going around in circles with Orange tech support?
escalated for the 5th time!! talking to the customer services is like talking to a robot ,they say the same thing and im no nearer gettig my phone back on . i just dont know what to do next, will keep u informed if anything happens.
My replacement Live box arrived today and I was able to get it working on the internet within a short time. I gave the Orange my new MAC code and was able to make and receive calls but had no ring current.
It turned out that to be a problem with the RJ11 adaptor. I had been using one with four wires but for some reason that did not allowed ring current through to the phone. Only the one with two cables connected worked.
I have several 4-pin adapters that Orange sent me before they eventually agreed that my Livebox was faulty.
Now that they have replaced my Livebox and re-activated the Talk service, I have tried it with the original 2-pin adapter and the replacement 4-pin adapters. I can confirm that the phone doesn't ring when a 4-pin adapter is used, although the call can still be answered when the red light on the Livebox flashes. It rings ok when the original 2-pin adapter is used.
I have checked this with both a standard phone and a cordless DECT phone, each time the phone rings with the original 2-pin adapter but not the replacement 4-pin adapters.
Clearly it is cheaper for Orange to replace a working 2-pin adapter with a faulty 4-pin one than it is to replace a faulty Livebox with a working one. But may I suggest this is not the best way to run a successful business!

I am glad I am not alone in this problem. My talk went down after a storm on 14 June. After numerous phone calls and e-mails and reescalations I am still without talk. I have spoken to numerous people in India who will not put me through to manager and on my last phone call I was assured by 5 working days my talk would start working again - I am now on the 8th and still nothing. I too am at the end of my tether.
hooray recieved a new live box today phone working fine, last conversation i had with india i demanded to speak to a supervisor he said i can see you have done every thing possible ,i will send you a new live box ,so fingers crossed it stays working. good luck let me know how you get on

Like many others bon this forum I too experienced a loss of Talk service at the beginning of July. Had 4 months good service - broadband brilliant and Talk ok, good enough for overseas calls, which is what attracted me to this package, then suddenly dead. No incoming and no outgoing calls. treid Three different handsets, one analogue, and different connectors including a direct RJ11 to RJ11 cable with my DECT phone which works perfectly through the filter. Red LEd light remains on but just no sound. Conclusion: livebox has an internal fault, but can I get Orange to agree? Six expensive calls to their Technical Support, done all the technical checks, Three 'escalations', six emails to Technical Support (I refuse to use their 0870 number anymore), all of which has resulted in the inevitable "5 days to reply" and they don't. Same experience as many others as I understand it. A letter of complaint to Rotherham got a polite reply eventually but no results. Yesterday I tried their Customer Action Team 0845 number and was told that this team doesn't handle Talk problems but a team in Rotherham does and they would arrange a call back - and I did get one! However, the 'story' I was told wa that they were aware of these problems and were undergoing various 'tests' on several Liveboxes to resolve the problem and this would take "several weeks". Do I get the impression that they are once again just putting me off? Has anyone else had this response from Orange? The only solution to this problem to my reasonably technical brain is a replacement Livebox but how do I get one before the contract runs out?
My latest after demanding answers I was promised a call within 24 hours of last Monday (13) - Finally got a call at work on Friday (17) but due to being at work and livebox at home they couldn't help me. I rang back from home and the girl on the end of the phone said she couldn't help as systems down. She assured me I would have a call back after 6pm - a week later I am still waiting. I did have an e-mail saying a new livebox had been dispatched on the same day and would take 5 working days - 6 later no live box. I have also had an e-mail to say that even with new livebox talk would still not work until I had update which could take upto 21 days. I work for a radio station but even threatening media action made no difference. Customer Service is very low on Oranges list of priorites

Can't wait for the next thunder storm and have to go through all this again.
But done it two days later receive email, power of the live box back on again 5 minutes later plug the phone ITS WORKING!!!
I told them 3 months ago live box has problem.but nobody listened.Nobody cared.Customer service absolutely rubbish ...@@@@@@ @@@@@@ etc
Lucky you. I am still no further forward. They have refused to send me a new livebox even though I have had e-mail confirmation that 2 have been dispatched. Technical support told me on Friday that because I was an Orange mobile customer they couldn't help me and I had to dial 150 from my mobile. I asked for a landline number as had no signal - they gave me the number I had rung. I demanded to speak to a manager who went through all the stages I went through months ago and he told me that all that needs to happen is that my talk needs to be deactivated and then re-activated and guess what that takes 5 days! When I asked why this wasn't done in the first place he couldn't answer that. I have spoken to ofcom and cisas - the arbritration company that governs Orange but I can't do anything until my account has been in dispute for 12 weeks - roll on 16 Sept as I can't see my talk working before then! I AM SO FRUSTRATED Orange JUST DON'T SEEM TO CARE. WILL KEEP YOU INFORMED
I first reported my problem (lack of dialtone etc) to Orange in April 2007. We are now in September 2007, and after many lengthy telephone calls, 'escalations', promised phone calls, promised fixes in 5 days, replacement adapters etc, it still doesn't work!!
I phoned up customer services the other day, rather than technical support, asking for some compensation. After 40 mins on the phone talking to an inept support person in India who on top of everything else managed to call me incompetant(!!!!!!!!!!!!), I finally managed to speak to a competant supervisor who has agreed to cancel my talk service (£4 a month) and has refunded me for the time when the service was not working.
I have had zero satisfaction from Orange whilst trying to resolve this issue and as such I have no intention of acquiring any hardware from them again (I fortunately have another router so no longer use the livebox). If I had bought this product from the high street I would have taken it back and had a replacement within a day.
All in all a very frustrating experiance so good luck to the rest of you.
New to forum but share the "no dialtone, flashing livebox light, no sound" symptoms and same frustration with the scripted helpdesk in Pune, India.
I just signed up to Orange Livebox [deal with mobile monthly sounded 2 good 2 miss but now I fear it was 2 good 2 b true!]
Symptoms:
Can be heard on dialled callers phone but I hear nothing (except the electronic pips feedback from own handset... have 3 different sets ready for when I make the dreaded helpdesk calls!)
Is there a summary of all the things to try - having browsed this forum, I have tried em all except replacement Livebox which does not seem easy to acquire.
Have seen mention of email responses.... can anyone give me an email address (or addresses) so I can pursue this is another route than just calling this poor unfortunate call centre who are clearly in the dark.
