Hiya all, Hoping one of you will be able to help me out please
My Orange broadband (up to 8meg) has been connecting at a speed of approx 150kbps for the past couple of weeks. I have had this problem in the past but found the help from Orange customer service to be non existant so am reluctant to ring then again!
In the past the speed seems to have increased again all by itself but as i have had this problem for the last 2 weeks i am getting a bit fed up with the bad connection!
If anyone has any idea why this is happening and what i can do to resove it i would be very grateful.
I dont know if this helps but here are some stats from my BT voyager 2100 router
Line Mode G.dmt Line State Show Time
Latency Type Interleave Line Up Time 00:00:19:39
Line Coding Trellis On Line Up Count 1
Statistics Downstream Upstream
Line Rate 384 448
Noise Margin 12.6 dB 14.0 dB
Line Attenuation 14.0 dB 8.5 dB
Output Power 12.4 dBm 15.5 dBm
Change the filter, plug it directly into the main socket (or better still the socket inside the BT master socket if it has one), unplug all the phones. See if theres any electrical gear near the router that could be causing interference restart the router (deprive it of power for about a minute) and see if it makes any difference.
Have tried plugging the router into the main socket and disconnecting all phones etc before but didnt seem to make much difference. I will have another go at this as my router is on top of a TV at the moment so it may help.
I have braved phoneing Orange and they said there was a fault on my line and would be fixed in 24 to 48 hours but i dont feel very confident about either their diagnosis or resolution.
Can anyone tell anything from the router stats that i posted?
Its on Interleave, which is a sure sign all is not well somewhere down the line. Its activated in an attempt to stabilise an unreliable connection. The Noise and Attenuation don't seem too bad, but if the problem is intermittent it won't show all the time.
Heres a good page for the technical bits on ADSL line stats :
Hi, Had a look at the website that explained interleaving and whilst i now have an idea what it is i am still not sure on how to fix it??
Orange have promised the normal connection to be back in 24- 48 hours but from searching the internet this seems a pretty standard response!
What should i do?? try and get Orange to turn off the interleaving or something (although i read that this is hard to get them to do).
Or will the interleaving switch off by itself? I dont currently have the router plugged into the main socket as it didnt seem to make any difference to the speed. Will plugging it into the main socket help the interleave turn off?
Dont understand that much about the broadband stats so any help you are giving me is appreciated
Interleave is controlled at their end, what I've given you is standard stuff when you have connection problems to make sure its not a problem on your property. Plugging it in as close to the telephone line as possible, can take a lot of unknowns out of the equation. I haven't had the run around with Orange (yet, perhaps ) but I suffered a lot of frustration and fob offs at my last ISP when my connection became less than ideal. It was resolved when they eventually got an engineer involved who fixed an apparent problem at the exchange.
The secret is to keep nagging them I think, if you let it drop, they almost certainly will. Like any firm they don't like spending money unless they have to.
Hi there, I work for Orange and might be able to help.
Please send an email to customer.services@orange.co.uk, including your contact details and I will give you a call to discuss.
In order that your email is forwarded to me quickly, please add "Jonathan Orange Response" in the subject field and also in the first line of your mail.
Haha very funny 'orange Response'! Pretending to be part of Orange.
Anyone who rings Orange for help just ends up getting charged a fortune with their expensive rip off pay per minute scam and banging their head against the wall listening to Indian script monkeys.
The only way to get a good connection is to leave Orange ASAP i'm afraid.
There are plenty of real ISP s out there like o2 (now Sky), Idnet to name two.
well i have waited a few days now for Orange to resolve my "line fault" problem and i still have no better internet connection.
I think the only way around this problem is to leave Orange. I have heard good reports about PlusNet and o2 (now Sky) any experiences of these anyone?
Oh just one more thing could any body tell me what the Orange coloured shield type symbol is that shows up next to my connection when i go on the "connect to a newtwork" page please.
Hope you haven't been put off by the negative comment above. I assure you that I am part of Orange and if you decide to get in touch, I will make sure we do all we can to resolve your issue.

Now the above message is so funny!
Orange simply cannot resolve problems as they are only interested in taking people's money.
Nothing personal against any individual who works for them but when you are part of a company that cannot and will not provide a decent service which is proven theousands of times over on this site alone then contacting Orange is pointless!!
A real ISP resolves problems and wants its customers to be satisfied.

You left Orange 3 years Ago and you still hang around this forum spreading your dissent and venom ?
Geesh, I thought I was a sad git with no life........
It would seem that A.N.Other person is getting a degree of action by responding to 'Response Team' in another section.
No there's no dissent or venom.
The fact of the matter is there are thousands upon thousands of posts on this site proving that Orange cannot resolve people's problems.
Their interest is in taking money from customers as they endlessly fail to provide or care.
So I say my statements out of personal experience and shared frustrations of others on this site over the years.
Your original little psycho rant of -
"You left Orange 3 years Ago and you still hang around this forum spreading your dissent and venom ? "
is nothing more than random, without understanding what's actually gone on.
No further comments to you as people with learning difficulties are hard to reason with.
