Over the last week i have had big problems connecting via wireless with Orange (have had service for a long time and have had no previous problems at all)
I really cant face ringing them yet again (just been speaking toa dope for an hour)
Quick recap
Tuesday this week connection kept dropping and then returning put up with until thursday when it completley died.
Ring thursday they insist on doing line test , ring back in 2 hours no fault. again ring back in another 2 hours for further update.
Ring friday 5pm , everything is ok with your line (yes i no that) ring back at 8pm and we will have ur solution, ring back at 8pm ring bk in morning and you will be up and running.
Rang this morning guy talked me through livebox reset, did this and bugger me it worked and connection was fine until 1pm and then died completley yet again (unable to connect whatsover)
Rang again just now guy seemed kerplunked and had no clue kept saying turn of your firewall (i did) and it might work after another reset (it didnt), he then told me to re-install i did and hence the position now is im connected for a few minutes and then im not.
PLEASE anybody got any clues , i will try and monitor for replies but i have no clue how long i will be able to monitor this thread
I then re installed again (thats all they bloody seem to say) and it didnt work
advised to install a wired connection first and then an additional wireless connection ok did that , as has happened before everything is ok for first 10 minutes on wireless(i stressed this to cs who actually said its working so that will be ok) and then died out yet again
I have now switched to wired and that has been working well for the last 2 hours but obviously i want my wireless back the last time it dropped of despite me sitting the laptop ontop of it
I am using a inventel connection and the adaptor's light keeps dropping of which i guess is the problem? the cs also advised me to switch to channel 9 in the security section of configure ur live box as apparntley its a better connection for wireless? (well that obviously didnt work)
please if anybody has any ideas i will be much appreciated as i cant face ringing them again tonight for the 5th night in a row (total 3 hours)
there is an icon in the right hand corner yes elinha. most recently it has tended to turn from green and then completley going rather than yellow red e.t.c
the lights on the livebox are fine after various resets e.t.c
was his instructions about changing the channel number a load of balony?
thanks again for your time and to anybody else who replies
just tried wireless again this morning and no sign of a connection (wlan config sign in bottom right is constantly red) and the inventel adaptor is not displaying a green light , any ideas from here? as it appears its not even trying to establish a wireless connection?
Ok Red is a very specific error. The software cannot detect the adapter plugged into your PC. Try reinstalling or other usb ports, although there's a possibility it might be broken too.
first chance this morning to try and re-install the software an interesting development
upon detecting the wireless adaptor it never detected it (if that makes sense) this is the first time this has happened and previously it has always found the wireless adaptor very quickly.
re installed yet again read another of elanhas posts suggesting i turn security of that appears to helped after trying these channels

i am now on 13 number channel and am typing this from another room 30ft from livebox which is encouraging
this has happened before and the acid test for me will be if this connection is still working in a couple of hours time
whatever the outcome thanks to elanha (male or female btw? just so i can use he/she in future with confidence) u have been 10 times more helpful than Orange cs
