I've had the same problem today, couldn't send e-mails, but received no problem. Orange help line was no help.
My pop and smtp addresses have been freeserve.net for years, and Orange have just recently done the work so I can get faster speeds (getting 3-4Meg now instead of 1.5-2Meg a few weeks ago).
After reading loads of posts here, I went away to have a play. First tried changing to orangehome.co.uk. No good. Tried Orange.co.uk, and bingo, we're away again.
Would suggest anybody with similar problem try changing between Orange.co.uk, orangehome.co.uk, wanadoo.co.uk or freeserve.net, until you find one that works. Leave incoming (pop) as it is, just change the outgoing (smtp).
From reading the posts, I expect to have to swap again at some stage, but hope that one of those listed will do the job.
Must have spent 4 hours messing with this today! No joke when you're self employed working from home (time is money!!!!)
