Can you explain how you have configured your non o2 (now Sky) email accounts, and who the accounts are with ie:Orange.
If its Orange i assume you have configured Orange pop servers for incoming and o2 (now Sky) smtp servers for outgoing?.
Hi Steve,
I have accounts with Orange, Totalserve and a couple of web-based accounts which I've had no need to use lately. And yes, I've configured them as you say, leaving the pop settings as they were and changing the smtp to smtp.o2 (now Sky).co.uk initially, then to relay.o2broadband.co.uk as I'd seen that as a solution. (I left the o2 (now Sky) account as o2 (now Sky).co.uk though).

Not that I'm aware of. Totalserve's instructions never said anything about ticking any of the authentication options in Outlook, if that's what you're referring to. Sorry if I've missed your point. Server issues are one of the computing areas I'm not exactly hot on!
Totalserve is, by the way, Madasafish (BT-owned) these days - it's my oldest operating email account but still heavily used over the last 7 to 9 years.

Sorry my fault, what i meant to have asked was with totalserve addy do you need to tick "my server requires authentication" just below "Outgoing Mail Sever" in the account properties on the sever tab?

1) Unable to get my laptop to access the internet via wireless. It can see the other computers on the network which are connected via ethernet). I've played around with various encryption methods to no avail (although I've not been too methodical in my approach there!) [Laptop works fine via ethernet and the wireless was fine on Orange].
Change the wireless channel setting to Manual (it's default is Auto) then manually change the channel.

No problem, I was fairly sure that's what you meant. No, I've never needed to tick that.

relay.O2broadband.co.uk with both authentications unticked
smtp port=25
pop3 port=110
with SSL unticked
My googlemail address in OE :
smtp.googlemail.com with server requires authentication ticked
smtp port=465
pop3 port= 995 with both SSLs ticked
nhyder's configuration is right so yours should be set up the same
Then i assume now its a matter of just getting your totalserve one working?
My Orange address was already set up the same, so that's fine and I don't use googlemail. I'll stick with the bethere setting for Totalserve unless there are further problems. If that's all fine, I'll test my rarely-used addresses.
I was testing the settings by emailing my girlfriend at her work but they've just sent her home due to a powercut!

I had a horrible feeling you were going to suggest that! I hope that works long before I reach channel 17!

I finally tracked down the issue with not getting internet access. I still had the wireless adapter configured with fixed DNS server addresses. Changing that to assign them automatically sorted that problem.
I'm still concerned I have Three wireless networks showing in Vista's "Connect to a Network" window. They are named as follows (I've changed the numbers):
O2wireless123456
O2wireless123456 2
P2wireless123456
I'm connected to the first (and I've been able to set the first two as secured) but the "P" connection is showing as unsecured. Naturally, I don't want an unsecured connection to be available to anyone so I'd like to be able to hide (or better still, delete) it and the 2nd - seemingly unnecessary - connection. Have you any idea what they are and how to remove them or at least hide them from public view?
I still have email issues, but if I can get this sorted first I'll look into that further.
