OK, well I rang Orange and requested my MAC codes to change (im moving to Zen)... the people on the other end seemed happy enough to send a MAC code but they made a couple of snide comments and demanded to know who I would be changing to... is there anything in this as i told them i was moving to Zen? or do they need to know when issuing the MAC code?
oh ok, well they told me that they could "upgrade" me to the up to 8mb package (which i know would lock me into a 12 month contract) and i said no not only because of that but my records indicate that my line cant receive higher then 2mb anyway, so a bit of a cop out from Orange, not to mention that i was highly insulted when the so called customer support guy dropped some hints claiming that im probably getting slow speed because im probably downloading illegally via P2P networks... (he didnt say it in those exact words however he did make the accusation of P2P downloading and before you ask, no i dont, theres so much good open source software i dont need to pirate anything... mmm openoffice)... it did remind me why i was leaving as sarcasm from people with less technical and people skills then a script kiddie / internet troll isnt a good choice of service... i still remember when the guy in tech support told me that Orange doesnt support IE7 and demanded i removed it (this was after it was released properly and went critical) and regraded to IE6.... and there was that woman who claimed that an ethernet router was wireless because if its not a livebox or one of their USB modems then it definatly must be wireless... or the time that same woman in a different call claimed that my router MUST be made by either 3Com or Linksys and insisted to know which it was and didnt understand that my router was made by Zoom, not 3com or Linksys... she claimed that it had to be one of the two (like no other brands exist... what would she have done if i had a cisco infrastructure) ahh well, cant wait to get the MAC's
Oh, and PS: In regards to the line test Orange were supposidly going to do on my line... they lied to me, they did NOT put in a request for a line test, like they confirmed to me TWICE. When I rang up they said that no line test is possible unless you either use the speedtouch or livebox modems, their exact words were... unless you use one of their modems BT would not send the results to them, therefore I would be required to get hold of one of their "high quality" modems for the purposes of doing the tests. (even though i already tried changing modems to another ADSL one I had in the house and it made no difference, therefore eliminating the modem as the cause of the speed issues).
orange r an absolute disgrace... no speed no customer service and because i'm on an LLU and want to change to Sky Broadband i'll be without Broadband for upto a month!
just thought i would let everyone know, thanks for the help with my speed issues. I have received my MAC codes and am in the process of having Zen take over my internet access account so hopefully I will have decent quality broadband Even getting my MAC codes I had issues with Orange... not only did they not bother to email me my MAC codes, when I rang up after 5 days demanding to know where they were they eventually told me the codes over the phone... to which I had to ring them back as the support team gave me the wrong MAC codes , seems they cant even get that right either... oh well, im due to go Zen by the 19th and hopefully this should be the last of my issues
