ip profile 6500kbps
dsl connection rate 448kbps upstream
7744kbps donwstream
actual ip throughout achieved during test was 6099kbps
So the 2plus meg i was losing now seems to be sorted but my noise margin has not increased. There obviously was some dodgy wiring but do you think that the disconnections will now stop or am i clutching at straws. I suppose time will tell.

Looking good.
Normally with ADSL Max unless your attainable is well over 8200kbps then your noise margin will stick to around 6, thats normal as it's the standard target value.
What happened in your case is it appears your wiring was causing noise on the line reducing the amount of clear signal above the background. Sorting that gave you a higher margin which it automatically used, in effect, to buy more speed from the line.
Have the disconnections gone away or do you still get them, with luck they won't come back.
yes glenhill just 2 and 5 in all of them. I've read somewhere that the netgear 834 router is very good with low noise margins, maybe i should get hold of one and give it a go.
By the way it's just gone again and come back , now the noise margin is 6.3.
Thanks
