If you have upgraded to Vista and your Livebox is on default settings you will probably find you are unable to use the wireless connection. This is due to Oranges complete inability to make their system standard.
The work around is to go into your Livebox settings (use another PC or make a temporary wired connection) and make a little change.
Step 1. Enter 192.168.1.1 into your browser address bar and use admin admin to login (assuming you haven't changed your password).
Step 2. Under configuration > advanced > wireless you will find a radio selection to pick one of: WPA or WEP security, WPA security only, WEP security only or No security. Choose WEP if you have old hardware on your network or WPA if you are using fairly new equipment (WPA is more secure but old devices (2+ years) may only work with WEP). The default is WPA or WEP - this will not work with Windows Vista!
Step 3. Click submit - your Livebox will take a minute or so to reboot.
Step 4. In Vista now try and connect again - enter your WEP key when prompted (even for WPA) - all should work now

Hello,
We just wanted to let you know that Microsoft has launched a new operating system called Windows Vista. If you’re not planning on using Windows Vista, please don’t worry, your broadband service won’t be affected.
If however you are planning on buying a new PC, or upgrading your existing one to Windows Vista, we need to make you aware that it may have an impact on your Orange broadband service, as your USB modem might not work.
Don’t worry, we’re working towards fully supporting Windows Vista and in the meantime, we can still help you get connected. Just visit our online help section www.orange.co.uk/vista for all the information you’ll need.
Sorry for any inconvenience this might cause.
Thanks

In the meantime, if you are using Windows Vista and have found the above work-around to benefit you, then please post back and let us know... We will then consider this topic as a "sticky".
Once again, thank you to 30111987 for your continued support here at OrangeProblems
Ive been using the livebox with Vista for months with no grief at all either wired or wireless . Currently set as wep only . I will try the combined mode to test this theory .
Oranges cd may not work due to it being incompatible with the latest flash version . Then again its not needed anyway so it shouldnt affect everybody as setting up manually isnt that hard .
Cant really see why it shouldnt work fine as XP's version of WZC handled the combined mode ok .

Unless u were a beta tester then there is no way u had vista for months.
Even the released version has changed to.

It was possible to get the Business Release edition since November - I've had it since early January when it went up on MSDN. Shame I had to figure out the fix myself as Orange have only just put up some help pages about it!
The inventel adapter always worked fine on WEP & WPA with it's own connection software on XP. Looks to be more likely Vista's WZC implementation not liking it from what I've read.
Easiest way to fix it is to take it out of the next firmware it causes more aggro than its worth . If it worked for sure theres no point me installing it on xp then .
That sounds like an easy option but do you realise the chaos that would cause?
It really shouldn't be the default option but it does work for some adapters and does allow them to connect on different encryption schemes too. It's basically too late in the day to remove it or default it to a different one without all sorts of complaints.
