Hi there wonder if anyone would have any ideas what this coud be.
Compaq latop bought on the 26th dec intel centrino 1024ram.
Now just got my box 12 days ago its took 9hrs to get connected and Stay connected, so far the past 12 days has been faultless not a problem.
Last night i changed the setting on the box to WPA from WEP then it hung up i got connected through the ethernet cable and the box but going wireless has been a nightmare switch on the comp and everything comes up fine until after 10 mins of being connected it hangs but this is were it takes a twist.
It shows that the wireless connector on the comp isnt connected to the box but next to it theres apparently a connection after about 10 mins of the wireless connector trying to connect its then says "unable to connect to live box" then the connection that i mentined before hangs and i get nothing its driving me nuts, to the point of buying a netgear wireless network hooking up my usb modem an use that.
So so fed up with it 9hrs first time an now 4 hrs this morning cant Orange provide somethng simple for a change, i mean i got a free pay as you go sim card it had two simcard in it and when i call'd they sims should have been destroyed back in 1999.
So anyway in short could anyone suggest what my problem is?? i would be so grateful

I had this problem with my centrino settings, my advice is to re-enter your WEP key settings (NO Gaps in digits) (I tried WPA and the livebox doesn't like them) and make sure that you have only one wireless network set up & No adapter bridges running. I had 2 going initially 1 windows and one intel pro & a bridge. I disabled the intel pro & bridge and got windows to activate and seek the connection automatically.
I couldnt get my livebox to work using the network cable so have kept the wireless link. I have noticed that the link will be dropped at times and have to do a lot of repairs via a right click but that is down to interference within the wireless area. (People walking pass, dog barking, hubby smiling, kettle boiling LOL) I get an uninterrupted wireless signal in the bathroom at the moment so it is worth moving around the house to find the best signal.
If you are set up and get going and the signal drops you can try changing channels on the livebox for better signal. (gets me thinking about old wireless radios with dodgy ariels, so much for 21AD technology )
If its a new set up switch the box on and leave it on for a day so that any Orange updates and serverside data is cleared from the line before you access the internet. A lot of people expect to plug and play this box but Orange don't tell you clearly that when you first switch on it needs to exchange signal& update data with the Orange server.
Also if you get connected again, change the channel settings. I had livebox on channel 1 and computor on 11 they are now on the same settings and seem to work better. Less signals dropping out.
