Yes (in reply to Scarlet) the first time I rang that's what I went thru - gave them the MAC and serial no., put on hold for a few minutes while they tried to activate from their end, then the operator came back and said the numbers were incorrect, so we double checked them a couple more times and my problem was escalated (woohoo!) that was on the 17th Jan! still not fixed!

Early days!!! I also have problem with talk service since last October. Raised complaint in November with ISPA. Contacted by CAT who said they would look into it and get back to me within 7 days. 2 weeks later no word. Second complaint to ISPA and second contact from CAT, different person. Same promise, nothing happened. Third complaint to ISPA and yet another contact from CAT and another different person. Promised to sort it out and she phoned me back Friday before xmas saying shw was going on holiday until after new year and promised would contact me on 3rd Jan. No contact. Now over 13 weeks so taking it to CISAS for ruling and compensation. If I was you or anyone that is having problems which do not appear to be getting resolved, log everything because sooner or later you may need to show that Orange have not given you what you are entitled.
I ve been trying to get my Talk working since Oct 2006. I think ive given my MAC and serial about 8 times and spent over 20 hours on the phone. The staff are not only rude but just dont have a clue, this is the worst service I have ever experience DO NOT COME TO Orange BROADBAND.
Any advise on how to a)sort this problem out and b) get compensation.
Just today I rang to get an update and the guy just cut me off.
I have only set up my Livebox this week (Monday), so its too early for my Talk service to be activated, but I read at the beginning of this post that someone said
Quote:
I registered for broadband and received ok. broadband working fine but no talk service. Tried activating it in member center but all it says is
Your Wireless & Talk service is being activated. This can take up to 24 hours - you can use the Internet while you wait but you can't make calls using the service.
We'll send you an email to tell you when your account is activated...
Once your service is live, switch your Livebox off and on again at the plug. The red phone light on top of your Livebox should be lit up. You're now ready to make calls.
I can not see anything in the member centre like this. All I see is Change your package, View Statements and change the way you pay. Am I missing something very obvious? It's just that as I had to set up my box manually and with a slightly different user name I want to make sure they know I am using it
An up date on my talk, Iwas going to say service but this does not seem like a word that could apply here. I did get a reply to my letter to customerxxxxxx but the ony thing that came out of it is yes they do have a problem but no they have no idea when it will be sorted. I know some one who works for trading standards they are quite interested. Orange are not providing the service they are charging for and as they are advertising. If they follow it up I supose would depend how many people are still are with out the use of Talk telephone. I did try to contact the help desk but gave up sitting in the queue after thinking how much these free calls are costing me.
Just rang 550 on my mobile (free) and spoke to a guy who not only said that my Orange Talk had been activated but provided me with my Orange Talk Number and Voice Mail PIN. I have to wait till 19:30 to turn off my Livebox and turn it on to find out if this is my miracle!
They have activated my Live Talk - after nearly 2 months!!!!!
I rang 550 on my mobile phone and spoke to a nice English guy and he activated it for me within 5 minutes.
Congratulations, Great Result.
Such a simple and quick solution makes you wonder why it was not done when you first phoned in with the problem. Says everything about the commitment of Orange to its customers.
What puzzles me is why the Orange 'Techies' in their India offices and UK offices were unable to activate my Live Talk number on 3 separate occasions before? My MAC address and Livebox serial numbers had not changed. What was the difference tonight? Ah well I shan't lose anymore sleep over this - lets just start using Live Talk for as long as possible. Will keep contributing to this forum if issues arise.
Well they only recently added the system to change to a geographic number, probably the system was updated and so hopefully a lot of problems with the activation system were fixed. The few comments about it over the last few days suggest at least something's going right for now with it.
I got all excited hearing that a few people had been activated so I tried switching off and on my livebox, guess what still no telephone. So then back into the queue to broadband support and guess what it has been escalated yet again and yet again they have no idea how long it will be. Just told to wait and I will get an email or letter when it working.
