Ordered my livebox in november 06, it failed to arrive. Phoned on 3rd Jan 07. Made complaint & took girls name, she promissed to send box out within 5 working days - Promise she said.
10 days later and after another phone call the man on the end of the phone informs me that the 2 orders for the live box had not been placed - Orange accounts still took my money of course.
Well after a threat to blow Orange wide open to the media, I got a live box within 5 working days. Eureeka I thought.
Well after much mucking around with settings and no internet access to find help files I used my works comp and found this group. Fantastic .... without it I would not have got connected ( and I have much experience with computers and ISP Conflicts).
It seems to me that if you are a newby livebox user or new PC user then it would be wise to get someone to set your box for you.
I am now connected via wireless laptop as is my sons PSP but my gripe is this.
WHY DOESNT Orange sack the ****ckin useless people who A) do not provide or tell new users about the need for updated java files to access and use the intstallation disc. B) sack the idiots who tell you that the orders for liveboxes have been placed when they have not. C) sack the numpties who will willingly take thier wages but couldn't really give a stuff whether you are able to get online or not.
I have been with Orange since it was Freeserve and have had no problems until now.
Thankfully I threw the CD installation disc away and set up manually.
1) do not install the disc. Install manually.
2) connect the box to the phone line using the filter provided
3) do not plug a phone into livebox yet
4) leave the box on overnight to settle and send data back to the Orange server.
5) switch on wireless on your PC or laptop if using and enter network settings and wep etc
6) Signal will drop out depending on where you are in your home or office.
7) open your browser http://configuration.adsl enter your username and password and wait and wait and wait and try again and wait.........make a cup of tea. Box will eventually communicate with Orange and Eureeka you might get online.
Obviously some of you will have to do a little more than this and if you are a newbie Orange WILL NOT LOOK AFTER YOU.
In fact Orange should sack every one of its useless workfarce and pay some of the people on this site who are most helpful.
Keep up the good work guys and gals as after a little browsing of these pages I decided not to smash the damn box and sort the problems...... Stars you are.
I can sympathise with the above, I too had problems with the install CD and if it wasn't for this forum I would be bald by now lol
I too have been with Orange since Freeserve and have had broadband from the beginning too. My letter said my username should end with @fs, but although I think it worked initially for a few seconds it stopped after that. I couldn't understand it, so I plugged back in my trusty Belkin router and checked my details and then realised that my username actually ended @bb1........., so another mistake by Orange
I owe a massive thanks for all the help I have received on this forum so far.
I am just waiting for my Talk to be activated now - I only set up the box on Monday, so I gues it will be a while yet

I have just had a notice that my talk telephone is live and ready for use. Orange now want me to disconnect and reconnect the live box .........my answer...... NO WAY
I am currently using Talk Talk via Carphone Warehouse, no problems with them. If you are happy with your current telephone settings don't change them IMO

When did you set up your Livebox? Just wondering how long it took them to send your email.
Did the light start flashing first or did you get the email first?
