hi there,
after reading all the problems others are having i was hoping someone would have some advise on which wireless pci adaptor i should buy. Coz im not sure which will be most compatible with the livebox.
Any pci wifi will do really . The stumbling block is always the liveboxs combined wep/wpa security mode which it is set to on default . Changing the mode to WPA Only or WEP Only tends to sort that out and then its case of playing with channels to get the best signal/speed oput of it .
Its easy enough to do by hand with no Orange cd or any of their software needed .
I had a PCI adaptor but the signal was weak and kept dropping, my PC is in the exact same place but I now use a Belkin USB adaptor and the connection never drops
USB is easier for people to install themselves, usually, often in a better position for the signal and can be easily extended by cables/docks to help with the signal more. USB can also cause the speed to suffer if the bus gets overly congested if using many USB devices.
PCI cards are neater and mean one less thing sticking out/on your desk you can accidentally break. However their position isn't always the best for wireless connections. They are however better at providing the highest speeds using less processing power.
