I tried it with XP SP1 on another PC and the speedtouch box refuses to respond when I click connect. I made another connection with the connection wizard I type the username and password in but fails to connect. I have the 2 solid green lights on the modem as well.
If it can't connect it should give you an error number that would help with what could be wrong. It's a 4 digit number like 06xx or 07xx
So how do you use the old speedtouch modem Graham76?
I had to re-install the new 8meg drivers as I hadnt used the modem for over 18month.
To connect I entered my username and password in the speedtouch dial-up, and I was up and running. I checked the speed with speedtester.BT.com and i was getting 6Meg. But with thinkbroadband.com/speedtest i was only getting over 2Meg. Why the difference??
Spoke to livebox tech support and they are gonna do a test on my line.
Try connecting your livebox using the ethernet cable. I have just done that and my highest d/l speed during peak hours was 5.8meg compaired to 2meg when its wireless.
Going to try it first thing in the morning to see if there is a difference. When I spoke to livebox tech hekp they said there might be iterference. i think this is b@ll@cks. I just think the livebox's are p1ss poor.
