Unable to connect to the email server since 8am this morning it keeps coming up with the following message:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.freeserve.co.uk', Server: 'smtp.freeserve.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I can still access email via webmail, is this a general problem today I have had problems before but only for an hour or two

0E... can't connect to the email server. There's no outages as far as I'm aware at the moment.
This can often be caused by updates to anti-virus or firewall software causing the connection to be blocked. Try disabling them tomorrow if it's still the same to test if that makes any difference.
After 24 hours have got connected but very very slow 10mins to send a text only email, if Orange are doing maintenance they could let customers know!!!

Norton antivirus was indeed the problem seemed to have stalled during a automatic update,updated manually and all was fine, strange how I was able to connect for a while and download. allthough only very slowly.

Yeah well anti-virus programs can do some strange things at times, though most of them don't change things when updating there are the odd occasions. Anyway it's usually a pretty easy thing to quickly check.
I have had the same problem consistently since December 16th.......ironically exactly since they updated the livebox. Nothing has changed on my computer so I know the problem is their end.
Although it is a consistent fault.....its actually intermittent. I find its worse in the evening where about 90% of attempts to access emails fail. During the day its about 50%.
Does anyone know if Orange are aware of this problem and are attempting to resolve it?
I'm not certain at the moment, there was just this sort of email issue listed a few days ago but that has since been cleared off the system so it's showing as all green. Still it seems something is going on with email.
I email them but they just don't answer. I can't believe its only me complaining.....its driving me nuts. I've managed to get access Three times this evening - all other attempts have failed. I'm gonna cancel my direct debit.
