There wasn't an option for 64/52bit or 128/104bit prior anywhere was there? It would need to be set to 128/104bit if there is the option as this sets the length of the WEP key to use. If it hides the key as you enter it then just keep going until it's all in and assume it's working and see what happens.
The Wii supports WPA encryption so you could follow the process and try the livebox on WPA only again putting in the WEP key as the Wii needs it. May let you bypass the key length problem that way.
