You are *sure* that the router is connected to the Internet? From that log in screen on the Livebox, followed by "my services" and "Internet" you definitely get "connected to the Internet" and an IP address? I'm clutching at straws now. Can anything else (anti virus, etc) access the Internet when you're "connected" via the Livebox?
Can you just confirm your answers to these questions, please? If the Livebox is connected to the Internet, and your LAN connection is working properly, and you're not running a firewall (you're absolutely sure of this?) the problem must be with the application (ie the browser) settings, I'd have thought.
You could also check the Livebox's firewall settings (log in; "security"; "firewall"; select "medium", or even, for our purposes, select "low" temporarily).
Start > Run
Type command / cmd,
type in "ping www.google.co.uk",
once done try "ping 66.249.66.172".
If either say any received then the connection is there and working and it's some sort of problem on the PC.
If you only get replies for the numbers and not the address then it's a DNS issue and you could try manually setting DNS for the connection. (195.92.195.94 & 195.92.195.95)
If neither work then it could still potentially be a problem with the PC but it would be best to test with another router or another PC on the livebox.
yes defiently the router is connected to the laptop and says connected. i tried the ping www.google.co.uk and got "ping request could not find host www.google.co.uk. Please check the name and try again.
On the ping 66.249.66.172 i got something back saying pinging and also said reply bytes time and TTL

Okay - Elhana's found your problem!
If she's also right about the solution, this should work, I think:
Go to Network connections (again). Double click the LAN connection. Properties > select "Internet protocaol (TCP/IP)" > properties > select "use the following DNS server addresses" and enter 195.92.195.94 in the first line and 195.92.195.95 in the second.
long time since i last wrote on here but i have just whiped my computer! And now the same problem has happened again! I dont understand why? This time the numbers i type in dont work! Any idea please help

Ok, if you go into network connections right click on the connection and select status does it show connected? If so go into the support tab, what does the address type and IP address show?
Also can you open 192.168.1.1 in internet explorer?
