i have just revieced my live box today and i have connected it to the computer and says conncted (wireless) and when i go to the internet it says unable to display web page or something similar! has any one else had this problem? i have been on the phone to Orange all day and all they seem to do is tell you to keep doing the same thing until they say they dont know what to do! can any help me with this problem so i can use the internet via my broadband! thanks!
I was in the same position earlier today and discovered that you have to press button marked 1 on the Livebox and then try and connect the laptop via wireless. This worked a treat but I have since found that the signal is very week compared to the Belkin box I previously had.

This is to pair the Livebox and the computer - it has nothing to do with the Internet connection.

Check that it's not because some other piece of electrical equipment is causing interference. Could be another wireless item (phone?) or could be...anything! Try turning things off, or moving things (including the Livebox. Also try changing channels - log in to your Livebox and select "security" and the "wireless connection".

Your computer may be connected to the Livebox, but are you sure that your Livebox is connected to the Internet? Check by logging into your Livebox and selecting "My services" then "Internet".
If it's not, check your username /password and that the @ LED on your Livebox isn't flashing quickly (which means your line isn't initialised for ADSL).
Sorry if these are the things the Orange droids have been telling you, but if you want help you'll need to provide more information about the problem.
Well, what can I say - this morning the signal on one of our laptops is Excellent and the other one would appear to work equally well. I will have to monitor it over the next few days before I am completely satisfied with the Livebox performance.

i have tried this there is nothing wrong with it! orange are saying everything is workin correctly but obviously something going wrong some where
In that case I'd start to look at your browser settings if I were you. If you're using IE, go to Tools > Internet Options > Connections. Select "Never dial a connection". Click "LAN settings" and select "automatically detect settings".
i have done that as you told me to with the LAN settings it didnt do nothing :s but i think it is something to do with my computer. As all the Orange seems to be working fine it says connected but there is a connection going through. There is a no firewalls on or nothing Please some one help [/quote]
What happens if you disable / switch off the wireless on your computer, is it a PC or laptop ? and then use use the wired ( ethernet cable ) connection ?
Can you connect then?
Do you have, can you borrow another router and try to connect with this?
Do you know anyone with a laptop to try at your house ?
.........................................................................................................
If you can connect OK using ethernet then the problem is possibly the livebox, or on your computer, (livebox the favourite)
If you can connect your computer OK via ethernet using another router, then again sounds like livebox us.
If you can connect via another computer using both the livebox and, or , another router then the problem would appear to be poss on your computer.

How did you connect to the intenet previously ?
yea if use the ethernet cable it also comes up with the same message. I dont think that i would be able to borrow another router or laptop. I am using a laptop. I dont know where the problem is but i doesnt seem like no one has ever had this problem before. I previously used dial up and am using it now works fine but runs out soon. I have tried unistalling the dial up then using broadband still does not work.

You are *sure* that the router is connected to the Internet? From that log in screen on the Livebox, followed by "my services" and "Internet" you definitely get "connected to the Internet" and an IP address? I'm clutching at straws now. Can anything else (anti virus, etc) access the Internet when you're "connected" via the Livebox?
I'm not sure if this next step will help; someone else may come up with a more helpful suggestion. However, it will just make extra-sure that your LAN is set up with a working configuration. I suggest you forget wireless for the time being - focus on getting the connection using the Ethernet cable.
Go to "Network Connections" in Windows Explorer (just copy and paste the words without the speech marks into your address bar if you're not sure how) and double click the LAN connection. Click "Properties". Click "Internet Protocol", and then "Properties". Select "use the following IP address". Enter 192.168.1.10 in the top line, 255.255.255.0 in the second, and 192.168.1.1 in the third. Select "Use the following DNS server address" and enter 192.168.1.1 . You can leave the final line black. Click on apply or OK or whatever, and check your connection.
