HELP!
Been trying to run the installation CD that came with my live box on my desktop with no joy. The CD freezes on page A1 then jumps pages. Tried the same CD in my laptop and it works great and installed no problems. I followed all the instructions about shutting down firewalls etc. Spent 40 minutes on the phone with no joy, orange promised me a new disk that still hasn't turned up. Desktop is running XP home, Laptop on XP Pro. Can anyone out there help me please?
I'm glad it's not just me then. My CD wont get past the first screen either.
I have tried turning off the fire wall, anti virus and Windows Defender all to no avail. I don't believe the disk is at fault as we had the same problem over a year ago on my brothers pc.
Luckily you dont need to run the CD on XP as its all done for you when you connect the Live Box.
My problem is I can't phone my talk number from a land line or mobile as I get 'the service can not be connected' I can phone out ok and leave myself a message if I phone my Talk number from my talk number.
Orange suggest reinstalling everything again from the CD!!!!!
I think I will put up with what I have.
As for installing on a Windows XP SP2 computer you have 2 easy options.
1. If it's wired just plug one end of the cable into the livebox and the other into your PC. That's it! Your PC should by default have dhcp enabled so it should automatically get an ip address from the livebox and be online.
2. If it's wireless. Most adaptors can be installed this way (has to be sp2 for wireless support):
Plug the wireless adaptor in. The new hardware wizard will appear. Insert the driver CD for the adaptor and let Windows hunt for the driver (don't let it use Windows Update).
Windows finds and installs the driver. Remove CD.
Double click the new wireless icon in the system tray. Search for you livebox. double click it from the list and enter the wpa/wep key (they are both the same).
You wireless should now be connected.
Ta da! All done without ANY of the Orange crap haveing to be installed
2. If it's wireless. Most adaptors can be installed this way (has to be sp2 for wireless support):
SP1 has wireless support too, sp2 isn't "required", it's just not as pretty or quite as good.

Also before clicking ok after putting the key in press 1 on the livebox so the antenna light is flashing.
If you get any trouble with wireless you'll want to setup an ethernet connection in order to help get it connected wirelessly as there's several settings on the livebox itself that can help with this.

Indeed sp1 does have wireless although you really should have sp2 by now anyway
Sorry for forgetting to mention button 1, it is a really important step - without it the live box will filter out your wireless adaptors MAC address

I've had that problem as well. Found it very strange and frustrating. I found that the 'next' button wouldn't work. Maybe it has something to do with the latest Adobde flash player not working properly with the file. The flash installation for the wireless usb reciver worked fine, however. Weird.

Yeah it's down to a recent flash update. There's a work around however. Just click the button you want once and then click a blank area of the background, should then kickstart it to go to the next page.

Many thanks for the advice. Will take heed if I need to install on another machine. I figured out to click on a blank part, but I didn't only click forward once as it got very frustrating trying for the umpteenth time to install it, especially as I had to go back to the beginning screen every time it flunked out.
Its also a doddle to set up without the cd to be honest . All I did when I got mine was browse the cd for anything useful . It then went back in the sleeve and promptly lost lol .

The workaround didn't work for me, However i uninstalled Adobe flash 9, then installed from the CD and put the adobe back on after..
I also had a huge problem. Took me 4 hours to install!!
CD keeps freezing. Trying now to add another wireless pda but the cd stops again.
Very frustrating.
Try again and it says that another installation is already running.
