This article highlights changes that will be made to Livebox during autumn and winter, 2006.
21st November
USB recovery pack trial launched
7th December
On the 7th December, we'll be updating all Liveboxes with new firmware.
Old firmware version - 5.06.2
New firmware version - 5.08.2
The new firmware will introduce the following changes:
Liveprinter functionality on Livebox (software currently not released)
full Unique Phone support
Talk - call waiting, and second call on hold functionality
improved security, to include firewall enhancements
updates to the Livebox configuration pages
robust firmware update mechanism, reducing impact if Livebox is unplugged during transfer from Ram to Rom. Benefits will be seen on the next release
bluetooth will be turned on in scan mode (see below)
Liveprinter
If you've looked at your Livebox configuration pages recently, you may have seen a reference to Liveprinter (if the firmware on your Livebox has updated). This is a new service coming soon, which allows you to plug your printer into the Livebox, and send documents to print from wherever you are.
Bluetooth
You may also notice that your Livebox has Bluetooth turned on.
We've switched the Bluetooth on in scan mode, as going forward we may launch services, which requires the Bluetooth functionality. As such, we want our customer base to be ready to utilise the service. At present, we don't offer any services using Bluetooth.
Got mine yesterday (11th) works fine, they shuld have them all enabled by today (12th), well thats what they said, but i wouldnt trust Orange as far as i could throw them so..

Maybe the bluetooth would enable Mobile phones to connect to the livebox to use it to make calls from the mobile through the livebox?
I think BT Mobile do something like this

Considering BT use the same hardware, just a different box, it's not surprising. It's known as BT Fusion, pretty much identical system apart from Unique appears to be Wifi rather than Bluetooth.
From how I understand the bluetooth system it has to have software on the phone itself to use the connection to the livebox at all. No idea if a PC with bluetooth can use it for a connection, although I have heard of inventel boxes that use bluetooth before for broadband.
That change list, I know about all of those changes apart from the Talk stuff, not heard about that so I don't know for sure if they're going out. All the other stuff should be though.
Another forum I frequent appears to have found how to enable the printer when connected to the livebox for a couple of makes. Not sure if it can be done for all but if you fancy a mess around having a go...
Broadband Buyer the post is about half way down and there's a few followups with other info.

Having trouble following the steps on XP -
When I go to add a printer in control pannel i can't see TCP/ICP -
Instead I get Connect to a printe ron the internet or home/office network, I enter livebox IP for this and then it asks me to enter password details?
Some people have managed to get their HP and Epson printers configured to use the USB port on Livebox.
Inspite of trying the same setup procedures as these guys, I have failed.
Has anyone successfully setup a Lexmark 730 series printer@
Thank you for any advice.
