I currently have a 1mb connection, i tried going to see if i could upgrade. I put in my excisting line number and waited. I got this reply. You have a service on your phone line that won’t work with broadband. This could be FeatureNet, TPON, DDI, Fibre or an alarm service. Before you can Join Orange Broadband, you’ll need to contact your phone provider and have this service removed.
I know im on the LLU service, how do i check to see if i can get upgraded when my line is not being recognised. I dont know if its possible to see if you can get upgraded if the line you want tested is being used at the same time.
Don't use the availability checker. Instead log into the member centre and see what speed upgrades it shows as available to you in there. Depending on what package you're on there may be no upgrades you can get. If you do an availability check through www.samknows.com then you can use the ADSL Max speed as a rough guide.
That checker, as it's coming from BT's system really, is probably just confused over the LLU, it can't really predict the speeds for it and just shows it as incompatible with another broadband service.
heres what www.samknows.com said. Congratulations, you are in a broadband enabled area.
However, your line is currently unbundled by an LLU operator such as Be, Bulldog or Easynet. Moving to another provider may require a cease and re-provide, which may result in loss of service for a few days. They say i can only get 0.5 meg, which is stange because ive been on 1 meg for about a year. Also my exchange which is Cheetham Hill Manchester is enabled for 8 meg. So i wonder when it is likely that Orange will be upgrading me.

Ok you're on Orange LLU then, that is an 8 meg system although if 1 meg is your maximum non-ADSL Max speed then I'd expect you could could get maybe 4 at the best.

As you're on LLU you won't be upgraded to ADSL Max, usually unless you were on the limited speed starter package then the system should have put you onto the best speed it could.
