Hi everyone. I requested a MAC code from Orange on Friday afternoon (10th Nov) as I wish to move to another ISP. I was told the code would be emailed to me within 48 hours, but it's now been 72 hours and I haven't received it yet.
Should I be contacting Orange again, or wait a bit longer? I believe I am on an LLU line now, will this mean it takes longer to issue a MAC?
Well I was trying to cancel my account with the Orangatangs (long story, see my other threads). I was told I could but it would take ten days to cancel the account and issue a MAC !
I was told 48 hours too.. After waiting about 10 days I phoned them up only to be told that there was no record of my request.
I made a complaint via the ISPA website and even that got ignored. In the end I had to escalate the complaint in order to get a MAC code.
The code is now with with ZEN internet and hopefully I'll be migrating on Friday- and that's the last time I'll ever have anything to do with Orange. Once my mobile contract runs out they can stick that too.

Don't forget to cancel any direct debits. Orange sometimes "forget" to stop taking money

Thanks for the replies. I still haven't got my MAC code one week later - should I be contacting ISPA too?
I rang on Tuesday, they told me it would be sent on Wednesday. It didn't arrive so I emailed them yesterday. They replied by email and asked me to ring them, so I did. I was told last night it would definitely be here today but I still haven't got it yet. They said it was taking longer because I'm on an LLU line!

I would not bother wasting any more time with them- just go to the ISPA website and make a complaint.
Today, I am finally free of the evil empire.. I went with Zen internet, the migration took 1 week and the LLU MAC code worked. I now have a fast, stable internet connection after months of Orange BS

I did a cease, I couldn't be ar**d any more with all the Orange bull****, it was well worth the 9 day wait
Strange when you read all the problems ( or excuses / lies ) Orange have in either providing a service, or in correcting problems with an existing service, in this and other forums, yet everything works OK when you move to another ISP
I contacted Orange after moving ( having been a cust for 8+ years) and asked why I could get a service, on the same line, same computer etc that Orange had consistently said had line faults, do a re-set etc for the past 6 months.
You can guess the result, they hung up whilst I was waiting to speak to a 'senior CSA '
Still their loss is someone elses gain.
Now in to 2nd month of new ISP, no disconnections, no spam, no email probs, my choice of speed OK for me, download cap OK for me, at least I know what it is and can up it if I require, internet phone worked ok from day 1 both incoming and outgoing calls, all in all a happy bunny.
I would still be with Orange if only they could /would, have provided me with a service that I paid for as above
My code took 3 days to come and glad it did seeing all ur problems, nearly completed the process of migrating to Be Broadband. I'm glad i got out when i did especially with the new agreement coming out for migrating!
