Hi
What i did was asked Orange for my MAC as soon as i got it i rang IDNet gave them my MAC they then sorted it, a week later they emailed me with my username and password broadband settings and a activation date on that date when my Orange connection died i reconnected with my new username and password my line was down for less than 4 mins. You use the speedtouch set up wizard put in your username and password in as it prompts you it will detect IDNets network settings automatically but if you have problems they will help you.
For your email once your account is activated log in on their website and request an email account choose your preferred address its name@idnetfreemail.co.uk and when its done it will show all your mail settings you can request as many email accounts as you want hope this helped.

Just to add to details of IDNets efficiency, I filled my migration request in Friday evening. Their office hours for this are 9-5:30 Mon - Fri, so I didn't expect anything until later this week.
First thing Monday morning I received an email confirmation of my order together with my login details etc. for when migration is complete.
Mid morning I received a call from IDNet to resolve a small problem, which was resolved Tuesday lunch.(the delay was quite simply because I didn't have some details available at work)
Logged in to my account on the web site last night and requested an email address, which is active today.
So - 3 working days from request, everything is good to go as soon as BT complete the migration. I'd have spent 3 days on the phone to Orange CS to get half way close to that.
Oh, and speaking to them on the phone I felt that I was speaking to people, and not uneducated automatons (unlike Orange CS).
So up to now - Kudos to IDNet - very impressed so far.
Very useful, thanks Steve. I requested a MAC number from Orange on Tuesday by email, not heard anything back from them yet so may phone today to chase them up.
How long should it take to get the MAC number? I'm hoping to at least start the process of connection to IDNet this week.

I had problems getting my MAC out of Orange couple of agents were being awkward delaying it and putting the phone down on me why? i have no idea as its no loss to them, but if you ring them and they have it and not emailed it they will give it to you over the phone.
Also if you need any other help try their forums here IDNetters friendly lot there and theres one on IDNet/adslguide scroll down through the various ISP forums till you get to it.
Hope this helps good luck with getting your MAC.

I requested a MAC code weeks ago...........code arrived by post.
Checked with my proposed new provider and they said that my line was not a BT LINE.
Checked with Orange and they said correct Sir the line is ours because you are on the LLU system.
How do I get over that issue, reply said Cancell your account.
Ok do that then result account cancelled but now it takes 5 to 10 days the return my line back to BT.
Well if the code blob got was an LLU code and his chosen provider doesn't accecpt them then he'd have to cancel to sign up to them. Not all accept the LLU codes and it looks like you may have happened onto one. There's a few mentioned in the various threads around here which do.

Agrees but their is quite a lot of providers that do accept LLU MACs now a guy recently stating he was from Orange customer care put several posts on several forums on adslguide saying NO ISP accepts LLU MACs so its pointless asking for one, needeless to say several ISP representatives wasn't very pleased.

Yeah I happened on one of those postings the other day. Either way it's best to specifically check with the other ISP to be sure they accept them otherwise you may have been just wasting your time.
Well, I didn't get the MAC code today, what a surprise. I rang them again to chase it up and they can't find it, so will have to issue another one, which will take another 48 hours (which presumably won't even start until Monday).
It's not surprise so many people want to get away, when the simplest thing is so difficult to process.

Still up to their childish tricks then delaying it to be awkward they tried that with me i complained to the ISPA and it magically appeared within 2 hours.

Seems like it, Steve. I was less than impressed when the guy said they had lost it and that it would be another 48 hours. I wonder if they would be so complacent if I said I'd lost my payments and they'd just have to wait another month?
