Hi.
Finally got the new Orange Livebox, all plumbed in and up and running.
Now having probs with the Laptop using the Inventel adapter.
It was working great with the Wanadoo installation.
My first mistake was removing Wanadoo, and trying to install the Orange setup. It seems as though it's not completing the setup properly.
When I plug the adapter in it's asking for 'Cohiba 3887 rev0 '.
Now, according to the help files that Orange send me when I ask them about this file, 'Cohiba 3887 rev0' should be in 'C > Windows > Program Files > Wanadoo/Orange > Inventel, but it is nowhere to be found, not even the Inventel file.
It is not on my Windows CD, Orange CD or Wanadoo CD.
I have uninstalled Orange and tried to re-install Wanadoo, but when it gets to the part where it looks for the Livebox it says thet the modem cannot be found. (Pairing mode is on by the way)
Orange phoned me last night to ask if I had got the new Livebox going, I then told him about the problems I was having with the laptop and the 'Cohiba 3887 rev0' he said that this file is only on the Wanadoo setup CD and not the Orange CD. Still can't find it though.
Apparently the lights on the Inventel adapter should come on as soon as it is plugged in, mine are not, so they are going to send me a new USB cable to try.
I plugged the adapter into my desktop PC and can see that the light is on, but very, very dim, and if I gently press the small end of the cable where it connects to the adapter, it flickers and goes off, so I probably do have a fault with the cable.
I don't see how this is going to solve the problem with the 'Cohiba 3887 rev0' file though. Anyone got anymore info on this please.
Oh, and another thing, has anyone had any problems with the Livebox phone line thingy. It used to work o'k but haven't used it for a while. Tried it last night in readyness to phone the helpline and it doesn't seem to be working. Phone light is not on on the Livebox either.
Firstly the talk service. With a new livebox it has to be activated onto it you may be able to do that though the member centre in the wireless and talk section or you may need to email/call them for that bit.
The inventel adapter "requires" the Wanadoo install CD to put on the drivers. Install the CD and it should work, if not you're going to have to call them about that.
Right, thanks for that Elhana.
I'll try and clear out all traces of Wanadoo and Orange and try and install Wanadoo again.
I've already established via the helpline, that the Orange WEP code will work on the Wanadoo installation on the laptop if I can get it going.
I won't be able to get too far though because of the dodgy USB cable.
I tried last night via the member centre to enable the phone, it gave me a number but said that it could not be changed, so I assume that I still have my original number and will ask the helpline about enabling it when It's up and running.
Thanks again for your help.
Hi all.
I've fdinally got Wanadoo installed on the laptop and got online via the ethernet cable.
Briefly noticed the notification icon on the toolbar, which usually only appears when connected with the Inventel adapter, so I thought that everything was back to normal.
Got a bit too late last night to mess about with the adapter, so I left it until this morning.
Put the Wanadoo disk in and went for the wireless setup, plugged the adapter in and... it's asking for the 'Cohiba 3887 rev0' again.
Checked the folders where the help files said it would be i.e. Program files > Wanadoo > Inventel...nothing.
Checked all the CD's again, checked the whole PC for this file...nothing.
If this file is so crucial, any idea why it's nowhere to be found, to download ?
I've read somewhere that 802.11g USB 2.0 utility adapter should sort it.
I've downloaded this, but it doesn't seem to do the trick.
Has anyone spotted this elusive file anywhere please.
Can anyone confirm that when you plug the adapter into the USB, that it should light up, even if not trying to get online.

Ok if you have the software installed go to Start > Programs > Wanadoo > Inventel > Wireless manager.
Should get the little coloured square in the corner. With the adapter in if it goes yellow or green it's working, red means it can't detect it.
If you've not done so try following the guide through the Orange help when searching for "cohiba". If that doesn't help call Orange and they should be able to sort it all out.
