Been with Wanadoo/Freeserve since 2000 and their broadband service since December 2002.
I have been on a 2mbps connection since last year and have been waiting for this chance of "up to 8mbps" as per all the adverts.
Then found that I needed to be on Broadband Plus else I'd be stuck on 2mbps.
I contacted wanadoo to find out why their site page is showing the same 13 counties for upgrade as it did back in September and what was happening to my exchange (which is 500m away).
The woman I spoke to was helpful, she said I needed to speak to BT.
BT said that engineers are to call and hopefully by the end of April 2006, their website says I could get between 6.5 and 8, so does Freedom 2 Surf and Bulldog...but Wanadoo says just 2.
I wondered if anyone else has their live with Bradwell Abbey and if they've heard different?
I don't want to switch ISP's unless I have to as to be honest, the service I have had from wanadoo broadband has been fine from day one, only had one instance of a fault where the line was down for four hours which apparently was a BT network problem.
run the BT speed test, they provide the line and will be able to provide you with the most accurate information.
BT Speed Test:
http://www.BT.com/broadband/bb...sOID=99101
(Look down at the bottom!!)
You should get something like this :
"Check availability - results
For Telephone Number xxxxxxxxxxx on Exchange xxxxxxxxx
Our initial test on your line indicates that you should be able to have BT Broadband with download speeds up to 8Mb.
If you decide to place an order, a further test will be performed to confirm if your line is suitable for the speed of service you wish to order."
The only reason that Bulldog/Freedom 2 Surf can offer it is that they already have their equipment in the exchange. Also remember that Bulldog will take control of your line, you will no longer have a BT line!!! (it costs around £40 to go back to BT!)
When wanadoo get enough subscribers to your exchange for their 8meg service to make it economic for them, they will change the situation on their speed tests
Explained that the exchange was ADSL Maxed enabled on 31st March.
I explained that wanadoo site says 2mbps, while BT rtc all say 6.5 to 8.5
She contacted BT for me and confirmed that I should get a faster speed and advised to change my package.
I explained I already did (last week 11th), she then said "ah yes it can take up to 10 working days for the speed to change" and advised to keep checking and if by next Friday there was no increase, to contact wanadoo again and they'd chase progress.
How do I find out when my new speed and/or product is active?
We'll send an email to your email address, advising you that your account has been amended.
How do I pay for the upgrade fee?
You will be charged for your new product and/or speed on your next bill date via your current billing method.
Is there a change to my terms of use of my contract if I move package?
Our Terms of Use will remain the same.
How long will the upgrade take for a speed or product change?
The upgrade will take a maximum of ten working days to complete although in the majority of cases this will only take a few days.

Not had an email from wanadoo confirming change of package, although it does show up on my monthy statement!
Received my livebox (which I had forgotton about) at the weekend.
Took a little while to configure but is working fine (the breathing wanadoo logo is spooky at night though...!)
My MAC mini had a few problems, for Three days I had to keep entering the wep but now have saved it as a profile and again, the livebox is doing the job.
Just got to sit and wait for when they grt around to bradwell abbey exchange, if they haven't by the end of the summer, or advise when they expect to unbundle, I'll look at switching.
