Can't give the stats from the Netgear, won't let me log in with the ip address that I used yesterday to get the stats?.
Will have to leave this until tomorrow when I have more time, have to go to work now.
Have removed the netgear router (more problems than i can take), and as my wife wants to use the net while i am at work i have re-connected the LiveBox.
here are the stats for today LiveBox
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : ADSL2+
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 12.1
Attenuation (dB) : 50.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 3973
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 3692 1108
will call the helpline tomorrow and see what they have to say.!!!!
Almost ready to give up.
no change in speeds from the router stats, still 3.9Mbs attainable
Downstream 3.7Mbs Upload 1.2Mbs
i have been told that i should get an attainable 6.0Mbs, HA!
is there anything else i can try apart from the helpdesk?. just not getting anywhere with them.
when i do download a large file the max download rate (using DAP) is 1.87Mbs, used to get 5.4MBs until the line upgrade (has this really been done)?.
THanks.

Well if you're still on the same noise margin then there's still room for improvement.
When you were on ADSL that was using a BT Wholesale service which works totally different to LLU/ADSL2+ from 0range's point of view.
Previously the speed control mechanism would be done using BT's profiling system but now you're on ADSL2+ the profiling is quite different and controlled by noise margin profiles & as 0range have nothing lower than 10dB your speed will be way down.
0range are progressively farming LLU customers off to BT's network & if BT have their ADSL2+ (21CN) in your exchange I think you should gain. Otherwise you'll be back to where ypu were.
As the btspeedtest site gave an error I suspect you are still on 0range's network so any move back to BT should be an improvement.
Hi.
a bit more data if anyone can make it out for me would be great.
i am going to ring the helpdesk one more time (the last).
Still cant get stats from the BT link, still get test error.
Stats from LiveBox today.
Now slower again.

Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line speed up to 1Mbps. However due to the length of your line the 1Mbps service may require an engineer visit who will, where possible, supply the broadband service.
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL Max broadband line speed of 3Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 2Mbps and 6Mbps.
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 4Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 2.5Mbps and 6.5Mbps. Our test also indicates that your line could support an estimated ADSL 2+ Annex-M broadband upstream line speed of 500Kbps and downstream line speed of 4Mbps; typically the downstream speed would range between 2.5Mbps and 6.5Mbps.
The actual stable line speed supportable will be determined during the first 10 days of use. This speed may change over time, to ensure line stability is maintained.

You've plenty of options to go for.
I've just switched to Sk y and for £12.50pm it's pretty good. Apart from their router not arriving till 8 days after I was activated it's all been good.
I've used their email support , thus avoiding overseas call centres & I've been quite impressed.
As for 0range , well when you get switched over to BT's network you'll still go to ADSL2+ as BT have their ADSL2+ equipment in the exchange. Trouble is that with a longish line you still won't get really fast broadband.
Your speed probably dropped because of the problems with the Netgear.
I haven't re-read all this thread but have you tried the quiet line test? That's 17070 & option 2 from a corded phone. There should be no noise whatsoever. If there is then report it to BT as a noisy landline , with no mention of broadband. I said corded phone as modern digital phones can filter out the noise if there is any.
If BoredNow reads this he might have some better input as he's quite knowledgeable about all this.
Sorry about the late arrival....just back from an extended chill-out holiday in Spain
Test socket.....can't see it's been tried yet
Your SNRM is all over the place isn't it so my guess is a line with random noise incidents.
Plug just the router into the test socket with a filter and see what happens to the stats over a period of say 1 hour. Then still in the test socket, add a corded phone, make a few calls see if anything happens with the connection.
A 50dB attenuation should get you a sync speed of at least 5000kbps on ADSL2+.
Hi.
sorry for the late reply, working nights this week so not on the computer very often.
i will give the test socket a try tomorrow, and get back to you.
Thanks
