Summary: I signed up for broadband in July 2010 with Orange. When I signed up I was told that I would get the maximum speed my line can support. I'm only getting half that speed and Orange can't fix it, or doesn't want to.
Action: So I will write a letter of complaint including all of the info in this post. Tell them I'll accept being provisioned 16 mbps speed within 28 days or let me exit the contract. I will demand a refund for the months of slow speed
QUESTION: Does this seem reasonable? can anyone recommend what else I should do? especially anything to actually get faster speed/Orange LLU?
more details: I know from my previous provider Be Broadband/o2 (now Sky), that I can get 16 mbps, I live about 1km from the exchange. However the max speed I get so far has been 6-7mbps. Obviously this isn't the maximum speed my line can support.
I spoke to the call centre people in Delhi at least Three times, I had to call them approx 1 hour per call, they only once returned calls. The one call they returned was to say there is nothing they can do, then closed the call without any resolution. I was told to write a letter to Orange Customer Care.
the reason your on BT's ipstream is because there llu network is full,so there for they can only provide you with the 8mb pacage because there using BT's eqipment, plus there having to pay for it.
Don't worry about it cause i have same thing on Orange 20mb but having to use BT's ipstream cause they can't get me on there own eqipment.
I supose it's better than nothing not a lot you can do,just have to wait when they can move you over like i am.
I am same 6-7 mb download speeds,even thought i could get 10-11mb

Your mistake was leaving BE/o2 (now Sky)......just a quick search would have revealed that even if you were on 0range LLU it's a worse service than BE/o2 (now Sky) LLU.

but I am worried about it, I'm paying for a service that was promised but that they can't provide.
I'm sure there is some law against this... did you ask them to move you to the LLU system?

Well I agree it was a mistake to move to Orange but not my mistake. The mistake is with Orange who advertise something they can't deliver. If you search for any broadband company online you'll find they have problems...
I searched before signing up and this site came up. frankly i though it was a spam site with the amount of advertising including for ()range on every page!

So you don't use Firefox with Adblock Plus and Flashblock ?......I thought everybody who frequented forums did

besides the point really but even with adblock, this forum still inserts links. e.g. Orange.
It's hard to take this site and the complaints on this site seriously especially when every time you write Orange, the site inserts a link advertising Orange.
Anyway, do you run this site? do you have any advice about getting the full speed promised?
From the stats your router is synced at the maximum for an IPStream connection and your IP Profile (which the BT speedtester will show) should be 7150kbps which should give a throughput speed of just below 7000kbps.

I ran test before and the test result confirms what you say.
This doesn't fix the fact that I was promised LLU broadband but am not getting it.

It looks like their LLU is full therefore they have actually given you what they said in respect of the 0range connection.
Legally, I don't believe you have any comeback.
Morally (if that word is in the 0range Corporate dictionary) I would expect them to release you from contract if they can't stipulate when they can connect you to their LLU service.
It does cost 0range significantly more to supply you with a BT IPStream connection so it is in their interests to migrate you across to LLU asap.
I've been in touch with 0range. It seems that I have been mis-sold the package as I was repeatedly told that i could get up to 20mbps when really I could only get up to 8mbps. I was told that I would be connected to to the 0range LLU network when I signed up, but this was also untrue. This is mis-selling/mis-representation which is illegal http://www.productsandservices...misselling
I'd recommend anyone in a similar position to contact 0range via email. It helps to have this stuff in writing and the people who work in Delhi can't or don't know how to help very well over the phone.

actually you're not quite right about this too. the LLU may be full but B.T. now run/own 0range's whole broadband network and have done for quite some time. It makes no difference to 0range how B.T. connect me and if so it is not in B.T.s interest to move me over to LLU if it costs 0range more!
I'm having exactly the same problem, spent many hours on the phone to the no-help desk. What makes it worse Is that I have two other properties with Orange broadband on the same exchange (both LLU) one of which was migrated at the same time as the one that ended up on ipstream. It should be illegal for them to advertise up to 20mb if they are only selling you an up to 8mb product. It's not up to 20mb if the technology they use to give you the connection has a max speed of 8mb.
