I am at the end of my tether with our Livebox. It keeps disconnecting - once I have reset the box it will connect for 5 minutes or so and then go off again. It shows as either 'Link Down' or 'Synchronisation in Progress'. This has been going on for weeks. It's impossible to work on my lap top, and my 9 year old is in bits about his XBox Live (or lack of!).
Not techy at all, so know nothing about speeds or how to check what the problem is. Any ideas appreciated.
Well on any other ISP's LLU ADSL2+ connection your router would be syncing at around 16000kbps rather than 8506kbps.
Do you have a main BT socket that has a split frontplate, the lower half unscrews ?
If so then unplug the router, unscrew the lower frontplate, carefully pull it away from the backbox and inside bottom right you'll see a socket. Plug the ADSL microfilter into that and then plug just the router into the filter then take the connection statistics from there and post back here.
Would this not be the 8meg LLU package though or would that just be ADSL2?
To my knowledge, Orange do not (deliberately) cap their ADSL2+ up to 20 meg connection at 8meg, unlike o2 (now Sky) who offer a capped up to 8meg and an uncapped up to 20meg.
Also the stats are showing "ADSL2+" but if it was normal LLU it would show "G.DMT" like the BT IPStream product.
It looks to me that either a cap is in place on mbillingham's connection or the provision to ADSL2+ hasn't been 100% successful.

I'm on an old 0range 'up to 8Mbps' package, and it's provided via an ADSL2+ LLU service capped at 8Mbps/600kbps giving me stats like these
Modulation: G.992.5 Annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 605 / 8,061
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 14.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 13.0 / 27.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 25.5 / 22.5
If I use a modem which doesn't support ADSL2(+), then I get stats like these
