we have just moved into new apartment with existing livebox2. We were told to put in the long (approx 26 digits & letters) WEP code password on the back of the box when prompted for a password. We have 2 laptops that can both see the network but neither will connect:
One laptop does accept 26 digits but still doesn't connect and says that password is wrong
The other laptop won't let us enter more than 8 digits - there is the option to enter a "network key" or "passphrase" but when we put in the WEP code password here then it doesn't work either?!
We have tried switching on / off etc.
Other posts refer to a "pairing button" marked "1" but the livebox2 doesn't seem to have this.
Can anyone help? Any clues much appreciated...
Thanks
Hi.
There is a pairing button - it's on the bottom of the Livebox 2, labelled 'wifi'.
I have a Livebox 2, also known as a Livebox mini and had initial problems connecting laptops by wifi. This fix worked for me:
Log onto the livebox (url 192.168.1.1) password 'admin'.
From the menu, select 'Livebox', 'Security' and choose 'Low (disable firewall)'.
Press the pairing button on the bottom of the Livebox. You have ten minutes to complete the next step.
Connect your laptop(s), you won't be prompted for a key.
Now return to the Livebox menu, you may have to log on again.
Change 'Security' back to 'Medium' and log off.
Disconnect your laptop(s).
Press the 'wifi' pairing button. You have ten minutes to complete the next step.
Connect your laptop(s) using the WEP key.
Mine worked OK, good luck.
