I had another call from the Orange Executive Office yesterday. So at least this guy is keeping to his promise to keep me informed....
...He has asked me to try the domains I know I was having problems with and to let him know if I have continued problems. I would therefore urge you guys to do the same...
Good news, Fedup, and thanks for posting the relevant info for us all. Let's hope you can soon change your name to "Cheereduporangeuser". Based on what you've put here, I'm now going to have a bash at sending to one of my problem BlueYonder contacts. Will keep you updated on what happens, and I may even write to the fellow at Executive Office anyway, to keep him informed, whatever the outcome. At least the bloke's trying, isn't he? - gotta hand it to him.

He has been told that as of 13 July the majority of problems had now been resolved. He couldn't give 100% assurance that the service is now totally reliable and that there may be soem obscurer domains still getting blocked....
...He has asked me to try the domains I know I was having problems with and to let him know if I have continued problems. I would therefore urge you guys to do the same and bombard the Orange CEO with complaints if you are still suffering. But, to give them a chance also include domain names that are being blocked, possibly also send them the full email header and ip address being sent from....
Well, tonight, Thursday 15 July, STILL my e-mails are not getting through to BlueYonder addies! BlueYonder is part of the Virgin Media "scene", I understand. Would anyone here say Virgin Media is one of the "obscurer domains"? I would think not, as it is a major ISP. So why the heck are e-mails to their service still being blocked? A month-and-a-half now, grrrrrrrrrrrr!
Fedup, could you please tell us again how to e-mail the CEO about this? I'll certainly play my part in this! Thanks, matey.
Let's all work together on this, even if, like a friend of mine once did years ago in a letter to the local council, we address our e-mails with, "Dear Sir, Look 'ere...".
I've no idea what the problem is but I've been having the same problems with my fsmail address. I can't estimate what proportion are getting through as I don't necessarily find out that messages are not arriving! Like you, getting frustrated and fed up. As there have been no other postings on this, it seems like a localised problem - are we really the only ones affected??
The issue with blueyonder.co.uk email addys seems to be that Orange emails are going straight to the junk folder rather than the inbox. Been like that for a few days for me so I reckon most of virgins domains are probably acting the same.
Dunno if the update of their email servers that is currently going on is partly to blame for that oversight though.....

Hi Subly. Do you know that's the case for cerain? Do you mean by "junk folder" the folder that a BlueYonder user can find his/her rejected incoming messages, or do you mean a folder into which Virgin Media is placing irretrievably all e-mails they consider to be junk?

Just check the Virgin/blueyonder/ntl/whatever webmail spam folder....
100% certainty that the problem is Virgins spam setup although clicking the "not spam" button will make sure the related sender always goes to inbox with no further intervention.
Saying that Its marking Youtube subscription updates as spam too so Orange isnt the only legit service being filtered there.

No emails in or out since 3am - usually get around 150 a day.
Very p155ed off and this the final straw for me - changing to a BT package
tommorrow, after beign with freeseve/wanadoo/orange since 1991....
If you don't mind me asking, how do you get round the problem of your 'old' email addresses by changing to another ISP. Will you need to notify everyone in your contact lists of your new address or is there some way of diverting the mails sent to your old freeserve address (after you have moved to another ISP). I believe one way is to use your own domain but I don't really understand at this point!
I'm currently with Freeserve and they are losing a lot of my mail but I'm worried about having to notify about 100 contacts, some are my wife's so I need to persuade her that it is safe as it is her account!
Just check the Virgin/blueyonder/ntl/whatever webmail spam folder....

Thanks, Subly, I thought that's what you meant (and I understand completely about marking certain senders' e-mails as NOT spam). Trouble is, I asked one of my blueyonder contacts to check her spam folder on webmail, and she reckons none of my e-mails are going there - but I suspect she might not know what the heck she's doing - does she even know what a spam folder is, or how to find it? My only other blueyonder contact is so slow at answering e-mails that I never know whether he's receiving or not. If he checks his e-mail weekly, I think that's speedy for him! LOL. Give me strength!

Fred.
No probs.
The new Virgin service is run by google, so the setup is the same as gmail.
Im not sure if you know your way round their system, but if not tell them the spam folder isnt visible on the default Virgin webmail page....they will need to look in the left hand column menu for a link thats marked "4 more" as the spam folder is hid within that option.
*edit* Just out of curiosity I've tried sending an email to my gmail account and that is doing the exact same.
The other thing thats just struck me is with the Virgin mail update/migration came new pop/smtp port settings, I did notice that some emails were getting missed or just not there at all when downloading to my Mobile client and thunderbird until I updated them last week...

Well Fred, I might have to change my username to cheeredup. I have tested all the domains I was having problems with from my freeserve.co.uk account and all have been successfully delivered. Even to hotmail!
I would definitely advise Orange of your continued problems with specific domains. Like BP, they seem to want to clear up the mess and get their lives back!
Poutine, no use just moaning here. Get your fingers working on the keyboard and complain to the CEO of Orange and give specific infomation about emails you know haven't been delivered. That has produced results for me at least.

But, before I change username I just might be having an incoming mail problem to an fsmail.net account
Oh, and how refreshing to have a useful online forum that hasn't been overrun by a..holes.
Sorry I'm late in replying to this, Fedup. I'm glad your e-mail sending problems seem to have been resolved. I'm still awaiting replies to test e-mails I've sent to my two Blueyonder contacts, so it looks like my problem remains. Trust me to have contacts using those addies!
I got a decent sort of e-mail from someone on customer support the other day, saying they're hoping to get this resolved for all customers, but four days have gone by, with no change whatsoever. Give it another week, and I may indeed write to Tom Alexander - and thanks for supplying his addy.
Well, good luck with a solution to your other problem. Wish I could help you, but alas...

Been there - done that,, promises promises... no result.
