For what it's worth, I'm experiencing problems sending e-mails to two of my only pals with Blueyonder addies. They were receiving OK until a couple of weeks back, but now none of my e-mails to them are getting through, though they can send to me OK, with no problems.
E-mails to other addies seem to get through, also ones I send to myself.
Is the fault at the Orange end or at the Blueyonder/Virgin Media end? Unless we are IT experts, how can we know?
I've e-mailed Virgin Media about this really irritating problem, but after about 3 days, still no reply!
Well, maybe Virgin Media's "help" team is no better than Orange's. Depends, I suppose, on who reads our e-mails, doesn't it?
We are aware of a current issue where emails to certain addresses are not being delivered. Our engineers are working on this as a high priority and I am sorry for the inconvenience the problem is causing.

Orange Response Team
Thanks for the response, Jonathan. It's appreciated.
This latest round of email problems started at the beginning of June.
So much for "Our engineers are working on this as a high priority".....Orange seem to be using the same engineering contractor as BP in the Mexican Gulf
The email issue has been going on and on since 2007. It never ever gets fixed and the only way it ever will is if Orange change the servers as the spam mountain they heap on other isps is awful and then they block Orange.
I have complained and complained so much that i am done with them, i am currently chillin in Canada but when im back im signing up with PlusNet.
We are aware of a problem affecting Orange email being received by several email providers, our engineers are working on the issue, however, at this time we do not have a timescale for this to be fixed.
We know that this is causing a massive inconvenience to people affected by this issue and we are sorry that it can not be fixed sooner.
stevieC - Jonathan is a real person, he sits next to me and brought me a coffee this morning!.

Orange are being very economical with the truth.
If it was a minor problem it would not take this long to correct.
It is obviously a major failure, probably in hardware such as servers or routers and as procurement of replacements isn't "off the shelf" perhaps that is why you can't give a timescale for the repair.
If so, then why not say it isn't going to be days, but could be weeks or perhaps a month or more before the email system will be up and running again ?
am delighted to hear from (unnamed) Orange official post that Jonathan exists and doubles as coffee waiter/barista! However, what we all actually want is for you all to FIX our email.
In despair I yesterday signed up for a hotmail account as we can no longer suffer the anguish and embarrassment of not knowing if business communications actually arrive.
Will somebody tell me, please, where they go - is there a large hidden cache somewhere, full of languishing messages, desperate to escape; guarded by a malevolent dragon? The entry code/pass word into this cave is obviously only known to a few initiates - the Orange Response Team - who doubtless have secreted supplies of the dragon's favourite biscuits with which to distract it whilst they attempt surreptitious entry.
I think it would help if the Orange "response team" actually explained what the problem is, and what exactly they are doing about it, so we know if they are really trying to solve the problem, and how long it might take. It's the same as if a train gets stuck and the loudspeaker tells you there is a "delay", that is not very helpful as you could Be Broadband for minutes or hours, but if they tell you what the problem is and what they are doing about it people then know what to expect. Please could the Orange response team consider this, as I think it might give people more confidence! The worst thing about this is we don't know when it is going to happen- it works for 2 days, then suddenly stops again. PLEASE could the response team give some specific information about this problem and give a timeframe, or we will all be changing email addresses! Thank you!
I am having the same issues. I am sort of glad it is not just me!
None of my 'Orange' e mails are being received. Have tried from OE and Webmail.
I have Orange Home, mobile & broadband (at the moment)
I have tried sending e mails to my work e mail - nothing, & my parents - nothing. Heaven knows how many other emails have not gone through, they don't bounce back and are in my 'sent' file. I am getting e mail ok though?
I rang Orange last night and when I eventually got through, the lady (who I could barely hear or understand) told me it might be 4 or 5 days before this is sorted? She could not tell me what the issue was though!
What is the problem? And why will it take 5 days to sort?
The other thing I don't get is, if there is a major issue and it actually is being looked at - why don't Orange put it on the their website with real time updates so that we can find out what is going on without clogging up the 'helplines' and wasting our evenings trying to get through. Surley Orange owe us that much?
Perhaps a one of the 'Orange' representitives could post something on here?
i may have a fix for you. this seems to have worked for me using OE. i work from home and using my work email id i have always had to use the smtp.orangehome.co.uk mail server.
however i can now use my work email smtp which is mail.[xyz].com . However to get this to work i have changed the outgoing server port number to 465 and put a tick in the ' this server requiresa secure connection' box.
now when i send test emails they all seem to arrive. importantly it now also seems to work whether there are or are not attachments with my email.
i'm not saying this is a silver bullet, but if it helps just one other person then i know my time here on earth will have been worthwhile
Do you know of there is a similar thing to do about emails not arriving..? My emails are sending OK (I think) but messages do not arrive, at least till a day after they were sent, and sometimes not at all. Is there anything I can change with the incoming mail server that might help? I would be very grateful if you have any advice! Also, PLEASE can the Orange response team reply and write something useful to help people in this situation- the idea about posting something on their website is a very good one and can't be too hard for them! Thanks again!

Nice workaround, its easy enough to just sign a gmail account and use their smtp settings instead in your email app (All for signing your outgoing info for marketing purposes to the devil They occasionally stop working in my experience but not for long.
in the spirit of experiment have tried sending email from our usual Orange email account - fsnet.co.uk - to the hotmail account which I set up in despair. Nothing, nada, not a thing arrived.
What do we all have to do to get Orange to update us sensibly on progress - or are they actually doing nothing at all, which I suspect.
Orange Response Team - we are all desperate here - please can you DO something. Vague reassurances that this is in hand are not cutting it - I don't think anyone believes you anymore.
