BBK just think your self lucky tha you hav'nt got an internet connection like mine at 60db attenuation which means only max possible speed of 3mb down and 605kb up speed

So stop complaining about have 12mb speed i would love that speed but i can't.
Sorry to hear about your line stats daz79. Not a lot you can do except move and I guess that is not an option, to be closer to the exchange. Maybe wait for BT to install fibre optics.
However I have to disagree about me being happy with my speed. At the moment I have been downgraded to 8 meg!
If I buy a car and it is capable of 150mph but when I take it on the race track, it has been limited to 50mph, I would be unhappy. If the car is capable of that top speed, then I should have the choice of getting that speed out of the car.
My line can handle 15 meg, I proved it over 2 complete days. However Orange will not lower the SNRM and want it at 10dB while other ip's will put you on 6dB and give you the choice of interleaving on/off as well as tweaking this 6dB.
However because they are not in direct control of managing the broadband lines, they would rather not, whereas other ips can modify the line instantly while on the phone, orange cannot!
I was put on 12 meg profile manually twice after a long debate. Now that the DLM has dropped me to 8meg, it will be interesting to see if the DLM can up the speed back to 12 meg and higher.
I guess at around 9:40 this morning, the DLM will try and resync my router if past mornings are anything to go by.....
Funny when you want the DLM to upgrade the line it never answers your calls, yet it will downgrade me at a moments notice!
No doubt Orange will say, too much noise on the line etc etc, however in this case, I guess it was the resyncing of the router that caused the DLM to downgrade me. And I guess I am stuck on a 8 meg profile for a very long time now, unless Orange read this and intervene!
Hello bbk yes i think i have to agree that the only way i will be better off is when BT do put fibre optic in but that's only to the green box on the streets,but luckly for it's only mins walk from my house but i don't think SHILDON will get that just yet maybe's by 2099 lol

Still a bit sticky when browsing, probably to do with interleaving and that my max rate is not around 15meg which it usually is for the SNR of 10dB. I will see what happens over the next few days.

From what I can work out, orange put me on the 12 meg profile and then left the DLM to manage the line.

Do you know what caused the downgrade, and then the upgrade ?

Been a long follower of this thread,even when i was experiencing no problems
then i done the daft thing of renewing my Orange contract for the up to 20 meg
package-why oh why did i bother.
I was on the 8 meg and was happy was getting 7.5 to 8 and no problems
sice supposed upgrade or as in nearly every1 case Downgrade getting less than half i was getting.
All started with the livebox resyncing as on other posts i noticed was the start of problems,anyway after upteen calls/emails supposed to be getting sorted but not holding my breath. In any other business the company would be up for
wrongful selling.
