Some weeks back I posted messages showing there were problems with my line speed using the Siemens SE572 router. The line stats are
Siemens SE572
Maximum line rate: 7666 kbps (downstream) / 1225 kbps (upstream)
Noise margin: 25 dB (downstream) / 4294965278 dB (upstream)
Line attenuation: 21 dB (downstream) / 9 dB (upstream)
These indicate that the speed should be much greater and this was confirmed by a number of you on this forum.
I’ve now tried a Speedtouch 585 router and on connection the sync rate was 17Mb at the master socket and 16Mb at the extension socket. With tweaking I was able to get a stable connection with the following
line stats.
Speedtouch 585v6
Maximum line rate: 18,994 kbps (downstream) / 1,295 kbps (upstream)
Noise margin: 6.5 dB (downstream) / 8.0 dB (upstream)
Line attenuation: 19.5 dB (downstream) / 9.0 dB (upstream)
Fairly convincing evidence that the problem lies with the Siemens SE572
router and/or its settings and the Orange fault team agrees.
Should I try tweaking the noise margin further (@tinytim is 5.x!)
Personally, apart from ensuring the internal cabling is 100%....ring wire removed, test from the test socket inside the NTE5 etc, I'd leave that connection alone for the sake of another 1meg.......you won't notice the difference between what you've got in 19meg and 20meg.

That 6.5dB is the first untweaked SNRM that's been seen I think
Unfortunately probably not so as jwgw wrote this - "Should I try tweaking the noise margin further (@tinytim is 5.x!)" which suggest he's done the same as me.
Just to clarify - on the initial connection of the Speedtouch the noise margin was 10db confirming Borednow's view that this is the default Orange setting. I then followed tinytim's route of tweaking the noise margin down to that shown. I also agree with tinytim that the DLM seems unaffected.
Would like to reiterate my thanks to you experts who gave me valuable advice those few weeks ago.
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 11553 kbps 886 kbps
Line Attenuation 32.4 db 15.1 db
Noise Margin 9.9 db 15.1 db
That is for the DGN3500. Put my speedtouch router on yesterday afternoon but got roughly the same results. Not happy with the low upload speed at all. Cannot see a reason why the DLM would change it.
In the past the upload has kept the same, 1.2meg and the DLM has put my download speed between 9 and 12.5 meg. But why has it changed the upload speed?

Looking back at the last stats you posted there's a big change on the upstream attentuation & noise margin plus a small increase on the downstream side as well. Here's your previous figures:-
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 12658 kbps 1157 kbps
Line Attenuation 31.9 db 7.6 db
Noise Margin 9.4 db 7.6 db
Nothing has changed at home, line has been fine for the last couple of months.
Checked the bit loading when I had my speedtouch router connected, everything looked fine.
I was on this lower upload speed before the new DLM was introduced. With the new DLM, it did not take long before it increased my upload speed to just under 1.2 meg and there it has stayed. My upload and download speeds appear stuck even when I reboot the router. I could usually get to 12.5 meg after a reboot if the speeds were lower, now I cannot. Will try another reboot at around 11:00am today and see what happens.
