Hi, so I received the home plugs I ordered but cant get them to work. The 3 green lights are showing and on my siemens router all 4 lights plus the LAN light is on but nothing is happening!! Anyone with any ideas? Ive got one downstairs plugged into the mains and router and the other one upstairs plugged into sons PS3 and a nearby socket. The electric circuit is different upstairs so in case that was the problem Ive run an extension lead from a room on the same circuit and sons bedroom but still no luck. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'd approach this in 2 stages.
Firstly I'd connect my PC to a home plug rather than the router & connect the other HP to the router & see if I get any connection from the PC to the router. Ideally I'd try on the same circuit without extension leads & surge protection. With mine extension leads were not an issue.
This'll prove whether the HPs are working or not.
Assuming they are then:-
Secondly , take both home plugs & plug into 2 mains sockets on the same circuit & connect 1 to the router & one to the PS3. Obviously you'll need a screen close by for the PS3.
Configure the PS3 to use ethernet & set it's IP address to a value in the same range as the PC and the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway as the router's IP address. I guess there's nothing in the HPs you need to set.
