Hi, I seem to have an intermittant fault with the connection between my pc (Win7) and my Livebox. I've had my livebox for a few years and all has been fine but for the past few months the network connection (red cable) between my pc and livebox fails.
I get a little yellow triangle on my taskbar to say my pc has lost connection to my livebox. Windows cannot repair it! Restarting doesnt change anything! unplugging the cable doesnt fix it either. Just tried new drivers from my mobo manu for win7 but no fix!
Each and every time the only way to fix it, is to power down the livebox, wait a few seconds and power back up...Then all works fine...no setting up required, it just works. Dont even have to touch my pc.
I phoned Orange a month ago, the foriegn sounding lady was next to useless after spending ages trying to sort it, and said somebody would call me back. That was the last I heard
Hello, I have exactly the same problem and its since I upgraded to Windows 7.
The connection is through a cable and it loses it after a period of inactivity, the only way to sort it being to restart the livebox (off and on) or to swap the ethernet cable from the red plug to the yellow one (on the livebox).
I have put a lot of research into trying to sort this and have disabled power saving for the modem, disabled IDv6 and done a hard reset on the livebox but nothing seems to work. I've been on the phone to Orange in India four times to try and sort it but they don't seem to know, I am also very keen to sort this if anybody has any ideas?
Yes, I've had this problem.
Found a possible answer: log onto your livebox >configuration>advanced>UPnP and disable it by clicking on the button.
Not lost the connection since I did this yesterday, before it was going down every few hours.
Fingers crossed this is a permanent solution.
Please post if works or not.
And a Happy New Year [let it snow let it snow let it snow...]
Davidj, I have tried your solution and it has been working fine since (about 4 days), I think thats cracked it which is great as my livebox is 2 storeys below the pc making it a bit of a pain to restart. Thank you kindly sir and happy new year to you [/quote]
Yes, I've been having this problem with my new Win 7 PC. Glad to hear it isn't just me. The PC connection dies within an hour or so of working and re-powering the Livebox fixes it 'til the next time. I will try the uPnP fix. Thanks
I had the same problem, which started when I upgraded to Windows 7. Eventually this became very frustrating and I re-installed Windows Vista. The problem disappeared.
My PC has the latest BIOS and network drivers, by the way.
Orange Tech Support could not help, but said Windows 7 is not the cause. I upgraded to Windows 7 again. The problem came back.
The good news: I found the solution posted here and it works for me too! (Connection OK for 28 days with Windows 7). Thanks davidj!

Hi David did this solve the problem as I am now getting the same thing but have not changed anything yet and what does UPnP stand for.
Thanks in advance

Disabling UPnP is one of the possible solutions , the other if you're on Win7 (or maybe Vista as well) is to use DHCP & let the router assign the PCs IP address.
It's the latter that solved the problem for me as Win7 seems to get confused if you assign the IP address on the PC/Laptop.
I don't use a LiveBox btw as I needed something better.
