I have purchased a Netgear dg834g v 5 adsl router and cannot get it to connect to the internet. I have run the SmartStart and configured manually. I have checked all the settings and they are as follows:
Basic settings:
Does your Internet Connection require a login: YES
Encapsulation: PPPoA
Login/password: as supplied by Orange/Wanadoo
Internet/IP address: Get dynamically from ISP
Domain name server: Get automatically from ISP
NAT: enable
My Siemens modem had MTU set at 1492 but this thing will only allow up to 1458 - I'm thinking that this is where the problem is as all the other settings are the same as the Siemens.

As for the logs it's likely that nothing is checked to be written. On my DGN2000 - a good choice as it's got the Broadcom chipset - I've checked all the entries under "Include in log". I'm assuming your interface is similar to mine btw.
I'll be back as I'm off to find a manual for yours.
I should stress I'm no expert but I've learnt a bit recently with my 0range problems.

Try doing a factory reset and starting again. According to the manual that'll be "Press both the Wireless button and WPS button on the side of the modem router for 5 seconds."
I work for Orange and am sorry to read of your problems.
