Hello
I am wondering if there is anyone out there who can solve my problem.
My isp is Orange and I have one of their Livebox and recently I have been having problems in that the wireless adaptor will not connect to the Livebox it will sometimes on a reboot but not always. I have connected the livebox with the cable and everything works OK but I cannot get it to work wirelessly.
I have contacted Orange who said I needed a new adaptor so I bought one from them however after over an hour on the phone they could not get that one to work at all (it was a Thompson adaptor) and said they would ring back and they did only to say it is my PC at fault so I honestly do not know what to do. I know I can stay with the cable but in the future I was going to move and will need the wireless connection.I also have a laptop and that works wirelessly with no problem. If it is my Desktop can any one think of what might be causing the problem as Orange have given up on me of course thats the easy way out as the new adaptor should have worked !!! but when you speak to them its clear they have not got much of a clue and its their equipment I am using so they really should be able to sort it out.....so much for customer service !!!! I know Orange going to accept the Thompson adaptor back for credit but that does not solve the problem !!!
If you can email your landline number/broadband account number and best contact number to customer.services@orange.co.uk, I'll give you a ring to discuss.
So I can pick up your mail quickly, please add 'Jonathan Orange Response' in the first line.

Hi Petesilver, hope you don't mind me hijaking your post but I have the same/similair problem I think! Would you be able to help Jonathan?
I have a Siemens Gigaset box supplied through my Orange Broadband. My laptop connected to it no problems wirelessly. My iphone also finds it a piece of cake. However I now have adesktop for work which I want to connect. I have put a wireless card in it, and the wireless card is working the signal strength is fine I just can't get it on the net.
I think its a problem with getting the IP address or something, but I'm now stuck. Have tried XP to configure the connection, the software I got with the wireless card and the Orange CD I got with the broadband, but no luck.
Hello Jamie
I don't know if I can help but I can tell you what has happened so far !!
I have spent over 2 hours on the phone to Orange Tech with them trying all sorts of configurations with a new wireless adaptor I bought from them but no such luck and after all that just said it must be a problem with my Desktop so that was that there I was I could connect with the ethernet cable ok but not wirelessly so thought for a while and looked in the exceptions in the Windows Firewall and added the wireless manager file which was not there this is the original adaptor an Inventel so I added the WLANCFG File which is the wireless manager and now it seems to work with no problems for a few days so I keep my fingers crossed.
If that is all it was it does not say very much for Orange Technical Help.
So basically after all this waffle all I did was add the wireless manager file to the exceptions in windows firewall..
sounds a bit to simple really but its working and I hope it stays that way
