Take this week for example, I have downloaded 4 demos from the PS Store, each one was just under 2Gb, these were done around tea time.
So my account will now be looked at?
Tell me about it!
God of War 3 was close to 2GIG, and Heavy Rain was 1.5.
With such slow speeds over the last 2 months, I have loads of demos to catch up with on the PS3.
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 12530 kbps 1165 kbps
Line Attenuation 31.8 db 7.7 db
Noise Margin 9.8 db 7.7 db
Been running smoothly over the weekend, with NO DLM resyncs.
Hopefully the DLM does not do anything on the line today, I hope it has finished with my line and leaves it alone.
over the last week my 1meg increased to 2meg, after a 6 week wait, things started moving when david got on my case a couple of weeks or so ago, then gradually increased to a max of 3.9 for about 1 hour then over 2 days with resync about every hour dropped to 2.9, today i am back at 3.1 with noise 10.2db, this is about what i used to get before on the 8 meg
Yes using my netgear. The fact that I have had this router running 12 meg for a few weeks now without any problems, then when the DLM comes online it does nothing but downgrade me!
All over the weekend, I was getting great speeds, if the DLM ignored me I would be fine, the router is fine, it zips along without any dropouts UNTIL the DLM comes along.
If I could fire some high voltages down the line to blast away the DLM, I would!!
The answer may have been posted earlier in this thread but I have no intention searching for it !!!......have either of you tried via the Netgear to set a 6dB Target SNR using DMT or similar ?
Absolutely no resyncs for me whatsoever, but still on 1Meg with a 31db noise margin. No idea whats going on here. I'm being patient but its running out - fast.
How do you know its the DLM? It might be just that the connection cannot be maintained between you and the DSLAM so your connection drops and it automatically resyncs you at the highest possible speed given the line conditions at that split seccond.
The DLM will not constantly downgrade you without having accumulated enough stats in order for it to decide that a downgrade is needed. You must be near the edge of the threshold if that is the case so the slightest irregularity with your 12Meg connection and *boom* down goes your speed.
As the email from Orange said "The DLM takes into account a number of factors before deciding that a profile change is required". So if it was the DLM then you would have been put on a lower profile at the DSLAM and when you did the reboot your speed would only fall within the set boundaries of that profile. However 9Mb falls outside the profile required to get 12Mb...
The DSLAM controls the sync speed and tells the DLM this speed which in turn then decides if it is stable for your line, it doesnt control the speed directly. It only gives guidelines for the DSLAM to follow. Because the DSLAM is syncing you you 9Mb, the DSLAM will tell the DLM this and it will monitor the line at that rate. Because you reboot at that speed your lucky it doesnt interpret this as a loss of sync and downgrade your profile. The only thing in your favour is that when you reboot, the DSLAM is able to resync you at 12Mb therefore your profile doesn't get chance to be effected by the DLM due to the fact your then able to sustain a 12Mb connection for a few weeks.
