This might get long, so apologies in advance. Have had Orange Livebox now for nearly 2 years, 1 PC wired connection, 2 other Laptops, 1 iMac, 1 PC, 1 Xbox. These devices are rarely all connected at the same time. Up until about 2 weeks ago everything was fine.
My wireless connection is now intermittently slow, drops, times out or cant even connect. I have spoken to Orange (ahem) technical support every night this week and it still isn't resolved. Nothing in my house has changed there are no water pipes(!!) in the way, nothing added nothing taken away, the Livebox is in exactly the same place as it has been since it was first installed.
I have, under their instruction done the following:
BT Speed test on the wired connection
Attempted a BT Speed test on 1 laptop wireless connection - couldn't even load the page
Reset the Livebox on numerous occasions
Changed Security from WEP to WPA only and back again and now its back on WPA
Changed Channels through from 1 to 13
A very long support call last night, did actually have all my devices connected at one point after changing the security to WPA. Everything seemed good and back to normal speed again for all users, but within 5 minutes of putting the phone down, it all went belly up again.
When trying to re-connect via my laptop (xp os) I had to go through inputting the WEP key again bla bla bla. All the devices can see the Livebox.
I have been promised phone calls back that haven't happened, I have been told that there are problems with Dell computers and Belkin Wireless adapters and in my last phone call yesterday evening I was supposedly talking to a "technical" support person and was told that I should only have 2 wired and 2 wireless when using a Livebox! Perhaps he should read the blurb on the Orange website where quite clearly it says upto 6!
Has anyone got any suggestions I am tearing my hair out, and I might need to take out a loan to cover the cost of the phone calls
Although you have done this, can you download (it's free) inSSIDer from http://www.metageek.net/produc...s/inssider and check exactly which channels your neighbours are using then change yours to one, if possible, at least 2 channels away from the strongest.
Also can you post your router stats ? just the sync speed, SNRM, attenuation, power output for downstream and upstream is enough.
From what you have said, it does seem like some new interference was introduced about 2 weeks ago.....identifying where it's coming from is the problem.
