I had my new router up and running at 12meg, after 30 mins or so, it resynched down at 10 meg.
Router stas confirm that this happened. You are right the SNRM was a little less, nothing major. Router stats had this SNRM at this level with 12 meg download. Then a resync and then 10 meg and a higher SNRM.
I have just swapped back to my 585 and it came on at 10 meg!
So rebooted the router, 11 meg next time, then again reboot, 11.5, one more reboot and it is now at 12 meg! SNRM coming down each time to be the following. Note I rebooted not resynched myself.

Not sure what to make of what is happening. But looks like the DLM on my line resynced my netgear router down to 10 meg. Then each reboot of my 585 increased it back up.!
I've asked Orange to confirm that the DLM is still on my line and asked for a bigger profile either by putting in a 13.5 meg profile or bringing my target snr down to 6dB. And of course to take the DLM off the line!

I don't know , I go out for a couple of hours & have 2 pages to read through.
When I replaced my Buffalo router with the Netgear DGN2000 I got an immediate 2meg increase. Maybe a reboot once or twice in there. I didn't know why this happened at the time but I've found out that a Broadcom chipset , which my Netgear has , can give a substantial speed increase over a non-Broadcom chipset.
I don't think that the DGN3500 has a Broadcom chipset while maybe your 585 has. That could certainly explain things.

Experiment......keep rebooting every 10 minutes......it'll either get better or it may get worse which you're used to anyway

Could be right, my 585 is broadcom based and runs with DMT and router stats fine. The dgn3500 which I thought was broadcom, is an amazon_s, not sure what that is, and does not run with DMT but runs with router stats but not with a full menu choice.
However it should be able to hold 12 meg easily I would have thought, if not more!
DLM still on my line, that is what I reckon.
Obviously does not like my new router.
But if the DLM was taken off my line and I connected my router it should run happily at 12 meg surely? Would it resync itself? Why would it? The SNRM margin is 9.7 and it remained like that. So the DLM must be to blame.
Also explains why Tim got an increase in his speed, the DLM liked his new router.
I wouldn't care I was going to buy a DGN2000 but went with the 3500 as it had 1 gigabit ports and I have set up a LAN so I can stream movies down to my TV so went with the 1Gb option. Now I would have to bridge my new router from the 585 so internet is passed over on a 100Mbs line, but LAN speeds are kept at 1Gb.
I have a problem with my Orange home broadband as well.
I began to use Orange home broadband on 13th of january, i've been using Orange home broadband just more than a month. within this period, i;ve been calling Orange technical team in every 2-3 days. I've made lots of complaints about my connection speed, I've told them that it is very slow.
The average speed of my connection till now is 3 megabits. The advertised speed in my connection is 20 megabits. I have not seen a connection more than 6 megabits. And generally i am getting speed below 3 megabits.
My connection is unstable, when I want to watch a video from Youtube or a live strem it always stops/buffers. When I look deeper to the speed test results, i realise that the connection is very unstable and the speed can go down to 1 meg or go up to 3-4 meg.
My line has been tested several times and they always said there is a fault with my connection and it would be resolved in a couple of days, but they could not resolve it. And today which is the 36th day of my internet connection problems, as usual again they have told me there is a fault with my connection and they don't know the actual reason behind that and they are investigating about what the problem could be.
I heard these words numerous times, i don't believe their words at all. I don't think they can resolve it.
I have all the recordings of the speed tests i've made and i've recorded all the telephone conversations that i've made with Orange customer representatives. And i am keeping the sms messages coming from the Orange as well which states that there is a fault on my connection.
Before Orange home broadband, i was an o2 (now Sky) customer and i was using the same BT line and there was no problem at all.
Since Orange cannot provide the service properly and could not resolve my issue for more than 30 days, i want to cancel my contract without paying any cancellation fee.
Is that possible, what should i do for that? As I said, I have all the proofs with me.
I have not talked with the cancellation team because i want to be sure about what to say. So please help me on what to do.

Post your router stats so we can have a look.
If you've read this thread you'll realise some of the issues with the 20meg service that centre around Dynamic Line Management (DLM). For me it works well , that is after the first month or so of 1meg speeds.
