Well I have been on Orange for a few years, and recently upgraded to Homemax, got a good loyalty deal due to long service.
They sent me a livebox which I thought I'd give a go, but I'm not overly impressed. I used to run a Netgear DG834 which was very stable. But the livebox needs a kick every 3-4 days, everything just gets so slow, seems like a DNS problem but everythings better once we restart.
My connection is 8Mb and being so close to exchange we get 6.5-7 typically. Also a very low ping usually in the low 20's.
Recently have set up opendns, this seems to help my speed issues a little.
But my inlaws, on talktalk, same kind of package, slightly higher ping, on a Netgear, seem to still have a zippier connection.
I see the livebox gets a lot of stick, I might go back to a branded router tomorrow, what do people think?
