Hi,
Im unsure how to change my livebox router's MTU settings. I've managed to log on to the routers settings however i have no idea how to change the MTU settings. Im trying to gain xbox live but it says the MTU settings aren't high enough. They need to be changed to atleast 1365? I know this can be done on my router but how? Any help is welcome. Thanks.[/b]
Im trying to do it wireless though? Ermm not quite sure, the white one. Had it about 2-3 years. Appreciate the help. Thanks. And by the way, whats the dmz ?
Its a setting on your livebox, stands for demilitarised zone, basically opens up every port so none are blocked for one device connected to the network. Obviously there are extra risks to doing this, especially if it were done for a pc.
You need to input the IP address of the device you want to open up. On the inventel livebox it can be configured here: http://192.168.1.1/router.html
If it works you could turn it off and try to track down the required ports that need to be open or forwarded and set these specifically, for it to be more secure then having all ports open.
Okay. So do i remove it? But what do you mean track down the required ports...? and is there any way of regaining the original settings once removed? Thanks.
Try just having your xbox connected to the livebox and nothing else and see if it makes a difference. Also could try using a wired connection to see if that makes a difference.
If working with dmz or port forwarding on a permanent basis its best to assign your xbox a static IP address in the xbox network settings otherwise its ip address can change breaking the livebox settings.
