I upgraded to the max service at the beginning of the year (what a fool).
my friends have recently been asking me why i dont answer the
messages they leave.
i use and always have used an answer phone machine at home.
only today did i realize that some two months back Orange
decided to enable my home phone answer service.
so clearly no calls have been recorded locally on my own little black box.
now i lost track of how many calls to Orange i made today, having been there before im well used to them telling me to dial another number and press this and that. nice tactics why cant they just patch you through i'll never know.
anyway after probably spending around £5 in calls i finally reach a brain.
this person 'oh no apology' 'your never get one of those from Orange'
says the answer machine will be disabled within 24 hours.
I know your post is old but can I "seems" as if you had the same prob that I have - ie my local answer machine has stopped since switching to Home Max.
yeah this was a long while back,
can't remember how it was solved.
guess it was thru a 40minute 08 number phone call
to request turn off the annoying auto pilot answer phone...

Wow! thanks for your reply. I have since discovered all my messages were being secretly dumped into the BT Style Call Minder voicemail service. I dialed 1571 and discovered 10 lost messages. I think the 1571 service is actually quite good for people without a local ans mc who are happy to receive up to 10 messages.
However, the thing thats gone wrong with my switch to Home Max is that Orange have neglected to warn people that they will automatically be put on the 1571 service. With BT you only get it if you register for it. I nearly sent my phone back for a warranty replacment!
