Still missing lots of mail form the 28th onwards although SPAM e-mail does seem to be trickling through slowly and got lots of today's mail instantly. Just checked webmail - no old e-mails sitting there waiting to be read. In fact there is absolutely nothing there - nothing in inbox deleted or sent!!! Surely should just be a mirror image of Outlook?? Or am I missing something? Any advice please??
It is turning into a "Dear Diary" forum. New day - old problems. Opened my Outlook this morning, there was 1 new message in my Inbox. Guess what? It's a newsletter from Orange offering me services "beyond Broadband". "Within broadband" would do for me, thnx very much. Funnily enough their Satisfaction Questionnaire never made it to my Inbox - picked it up from the server. I have also set up Googlemail account. To be continued.....
Well, there seems to be a little progress with this. As of this morning emails seem to be arriving swiftly again, BUT another problem has replaced it
The automated reply to my initial email to Orange arrived 8 hours late in both Apple Mail, and Webmail direct. Worryingly I noticed that I wasn't receiving the usual amount of emails in Apple Mail that I usually do. Upon logging on to Orange Webmail I was bombarded by emails that should have been pulled by my client. A lot of late arrivals miraculously turned up, as well as some missing ones. In amongst those mails were some Orange Response and helpline mails. As usual the helpline pointed me towards the settings for Apple Mail, gently suggesting the problem was my end! I'm not buying this as my Apple mail has been flawless for years and nothing has been changed, never mind the fact that directly logging on to Orange Webmail highlighted the same problem.
Now, the new problem seems to be that emails that were previously able to be pulled from Orange mail server by Apple Mail, are now not able to be pulled. These emails include Orange's own invoices, offers and tech help as well as trusted friends of mine. Ok, now I had a brain wave. I have never messed about with the Spam filter settings in Orange - never had the need to - so I globally set everyone in the inbox as a trusted contact and fired up Apple Mail to see if it would now pull them. That sort of worked, it pulled some but not all of them. It still left mails on there that had previously been able to be pulled. If I use Webmail to forward these left emails to myself, Apple Mail then pulls them normally. Having to keep logging into Webmail every half hour is going to be a right pain in the rectum. That’s why we have clients to do it. By the way Orange, if you are reading this, slyly fixing the problem while trying blame it on the customer is not inductive to customer satisfaction. Specially when you replace the original problem with another one. I’m looking forward to seeing this one miraculously fix itself while you make me run around the reboot roundabout. I have a funny feeling it would be as simple as letting us actually turn the spam filter OFF!

Hi all
They have for what it is worth just told me it will not be fixed untill maybe Tuesday
When I telephoned Orange last Friday they said they didn't know when it would be fixed.
This morning I received an email from webmail tech support (I'd emailed them prior to telephoning) giving it all this irrelevant time-wasting stuff they want me to do - does this mean they're stalling or that they don't know that this is nothing to do with me???
Any info at all would nice. Is there somewhere else on the www that I can find more info?
I dread to think how much work I'm losing...

IT SEEMS THAT MY E-MAILS DO NOT EVEN REACH WEBMAIL! GOT A LETTER FROM MY PHONE LINE PROVIDER ASKING TO PROVIDE AN ALTERNATIVE E-MAIL ADDRESS AS THE BILLS THEY SEND ME ARE BOUNCING BACK! I AM LOOSING WORK BIG TIME BUT BECAUSE I AM ON A HOME PACKAGE I WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE "NOT LIABLE FOR THE LOSS OF MY EARNINGS AS IT IS NOT A BUSINESS PACKAGE"! IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO??
That's right. I'm getting about 10% of my emails into webmail and about 2% of those into OE. Any I do get are out of order and some of them are days old.
I don't know what can be done except a lot of complaining. I can't even see where there's much uproar about it on the www...
A lot of my people are getting 'undeliverable' messages, which is okay for some of them, but many of them won't bother again which means more loss of work for me.

As mentioned in my previous update, emails "seem" to be arriving on time in Webmail. However, as Montrose is finding out, only some of these turn up either in Outlook or MAC mail.
Well, I spent Friday afternoon, and the best part of Saturday morning on the phone to customer services; including the dedicated Orange Apple MAC hotline LOL. All of them concluded that they have a problem somewhere with their webmail. No Sith sherlock.
The best advice I was given was to email all my problems to Orange technical services - face in palm moment.
To to date I have sent 11 emails to Orange technical helpline, and 3 to the Jonathan and Darren, who frequent this site from Orange response team. I have had several automated responses: 2 emails suggesting I check my settings, and one this very afternoon telling me their servers show no problems, and they cannot monitor the 4 million emails they have a day - no, but not loosing them would be nice. I was then asked if I would give them a full list of the missing and late mails (no older than five days) and if I wouldn't mind if they entered my account. Two problems with that: you dumped all my missing emails into my account on Friday, when you sneakily fixed the late issue, and 2) most of them are over 5 days old now. Never mind the security implications of you entering my account!
As for Orange response team. I informed them that the original problem seems to have been resolved but replaced with a Client pull problem. I even gave them examples of the sort of mails that cannot be pulled. Orange broadband adverts and promotions are pulled fine by OE/Mac mail. But the important stuff like bills, friends, and Orange's own customer services, just stay in webmail and cannot be pulled by either OE or MAC Mail.
Do you ever get the feeling that they really don't care about the customers that signed up in the Freeserve days? Most of the people I know that have joined Orange recently have not got any of these problems. Hell I wouldn't even mind if they told me I had to have my address changed for an up to date Orange one. I just want it working!!!!!!!!
This is seriously got me thinking of moving ISP and mobile supplier. My 18 month contract ran out ages ago so I'm free to walk. In the 15 years I have been with Orange, I've never know there to be as many problems as the past couple of years have shown. I can see Why Orange UK never got the Iphone contract!
BTW I've informed both the response team and tech services of this thread.
Actually, Miguel - huge numbers of my emails aren't arriving in webmail at all, and those that do get 'stuck' there.
Some people are getting their emails to me bounced back to them - I'm lucky if they persevere. Of course, I'm losing work from all the ones that don't persevere...
The emails that do come through are still coming through days late and in the wrong order.
I've had the same email from Orange about them not being able to monitor every single email. I have pointed out them that I'm not complaining about losing a single email. I'm complaining about losing HUNDREDS of them.
I have told them to get in to my account and sort it out. It's no use to me at the moment. Maybe that was a bad move, but I'm getting pretty desperate about it.
I also pointed out to them that their tech support guy on the phone informed me in no uncertain terms that this had nothing to do with my computer or my software, but was a problem being suffered across the UK by numerous Orange customers. So they're not even getting their story straight.
It's most frustrating.
Unfortunately there are so many and diverse people with this email address that I would find it very difficult to change it for a new one without losing even more work.
So am a bit stuck, really.
I find it odd that I can't find more uproar about this on the web anywhere.

I am still missing loads of e-mails from the beginning of last week. It is not so much the ones I know about that I am worried about but those I don't. Will they ever get through? I was getting the odd one 4 or 5 days late but these seem to have dried up. I am getting some e-mails into OE more or less instantly and others hours late.
Did get an automated response form Orange help 5 dyas ago but am still waiting for their actual personal reply......... in vain I am sure. Keep checking webmail but no extra e-mails sitting there. Grrrrrrrrrrr!!

Try looking on the Webserver, mine are all stuck there and not downloading!!!
I have contacted Orange several times and got the automated reply. Just had another email wanting access to my email account so fingers crossed they will be able to see our problems
Well, it seems my journey may end here(until next time). I really shouldn't be so pessimistic
I received 2 mails from customer support just before close of play today. The first wasn't that informative, basically acknowledging what we all know; they have a late and missing email problem that they are working to resolve. To be fair, mine seems to have been fine since Friday. We'll see how this week pans out.
The 2nd was from an Alan, who obviously knows what he is doing. He asked me to change a setting on my MAC, that up until this resent event has worked fine for the past 2 years ( the same setting I have used in my PC for even longer) This same setting was confirmed to be correct by the Orange Apple MAC special branch on several occasions over Friday and Saturday.
He basically asked me to change my user name from"Name@username.fsnet.co.uk" to just "username.fsnet.co.uk". I have done this on my MAC and PC this evening, and hey presto, it worked! I can now pull all my mail - not just the odd ones - like normal. Why this setting needed to be changed is beyond me, as the old one worked fine for so long.
Instant mails + Mails not getting lost + Clients that work again =
So it seems that persistent badgering has paid off in my case. I will of course keep checking the webmail direct, just in case.
I hope you guys get some resolution to your email troubles soon. Keep in there.

Have just read the last update and had to register to spread some good news. I have had the same problem for over a week now, I have changed my user name from"Name@username.fslife.co.uk" to just "username.fslife.co.uk" in Outlook 2007, as suggested in Miguel post, hit send/receive and tons of lovely emails came down o my Inbox.
Thank you Miguel and Coaster_cowboy for spreading the joy. It's much needed.
Okay - I know I'm still not getting all my emails into webmail - apart from the numbers of emails being well down, there's the small matter of the ones I've sent myself from various accounts - that haven't arrived.
However - it'd be nice to at least get one bit of it sorted and I'd like to get the emails off the webmail that I want to keep before the rest of them do arrive in such numbers that it overtops the 1000 and I lose all the others irretrievably.
I've been ferreting about in my OE and am not confident enough of which bit to change - the only places that I can see my 'username' in the format you've stated - it's not called my username - it's called my 'email address' in one bit and my 'account name' in another bit.
Sorry to be a pain, but could you please tell me which one I need to change or maybe it's somewhere else altogether...

Thanks in advance!
Open up OE and go to Tools>Accounts>Highlight your Orange home account>Properties>Servers. Under the Severs tab you will have Account name and password. It's the account name you change to username.fsnet.co.uk. if it isn't already. Under the same tab the POP should read pop.orangehome.co.uk and smtp smtp.orangehome.co.uk
Under the advanced tab you should have SSL unchecked, with port 25 for SMTP and 110 for POP
General tab and advanced tab are pretty self explanatory. If you want to leave a copy of the mail on the server make sure you have that selection checked under the advanced tab.
Hope that's of some help.
P.S I may have spoke too soon on the late email front. I received a mail today that was sent to me on the 1st of September! Thats got to be a record!
Thank you so much for the instructions - and for their clarity!
Now emails are coming into OE, just need to sort out how to get them onto webmail in the first place...
It's the ones you don't know you've not received that are the worrying ones... (I know what I mean)
