Just got of the phone to Orange and they say that everything is alright with my broadband done the BT speedtest results below can somebody tell me if this is ok as when I do a diagnostic with iplayer my connection spead is 75kpbs cannot even listern to radio, utube is a joke and loading pages is like the old days. told them about my Ip profile speed but said its ok
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 6144 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 111 kbps
Will do another speed teat in 3hrs now connected straight to my livebox not wifi and no diffrence
No, as nhyder said in your other thread, you have a stuck IP Profile.
This requires manual intervention by BT because their DLM system has not automatically increased it.
Syncing at 6144kbps should give you an IP Profile of 5000kbps.
If it has been manually corrected (and I doubt that it has) then you must have had numerous massive noise incidents on your line rendering the phone almost unusable.
Check your router stats for the SNR data and post the complete result here.
Yes I got in touch with Orange as nhyder said and told them about the ip profile and what I got back was that they use dynamic IP addresses and to turn the livebox of then back on if this does not work contact Orange broadband on tel no. So I have contacted them and the above is what they have said I tell them the problem and they say no problem now I will go back to them and say the ip profile should be about 5000 not 135
There is something very peculiar happening on that line.
See the attenuation has changed from 47dB to 24dB.
The Noise Margin is quite high at ~15dB, it should be 10 or less.
Then the PPP in progress message ? Well PPP indicates the connection between your exchange and Orange servers, which infers your connection to the exchange is OK....probably.
But these stats bear little relationship to the BT speedtester results
Just been back in touch with Orange told them again about the ip profile they said its must be the ext in my house so have moved to main socket and put the livebox in there no phones are anything else done a test and this is what I got
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 8096 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 118 kbps
still 135kbps have told them about this and that they need to inform BT to do it manually but they insist it is my line .so what now
OK that's now on a par with speedtester although it's still different. I reckon BT are currently "tweaking" things at the exchange. What exchange are you on ? >>> http://www.samknows.com/broadb...search.php
If I were you, I'd leave it overnight and run speedtester and the router stats in the morning (get up a bit early if you have to ) and post again.
ok so here is the new tests. I have got nothing plugged in to the main telephone box except the live box and as the results still says I am only getting 112kbps could it be the wire from the plug to the livebox as I cannot think of anything else unless the livebox is not working right. Also as Orange have said it was the ex line in the house we now no that is wrong so what do you recomend I say to them this time. Thanks
speed test

Sorted have spoke to Orange again and this time the lad I spoke to new straight away what the problem was even before i said its a stuck ip profile as you and nryder said its just the last lot of phone calls all I got was everything is ok even when I mentioned the ip profile they said its got nothing to do with it again everything ok. At least I got somebody who has an idea of what they are talking about and said they would sort it this time
Don't forget to post stats and speedtester results after BT have corrected the IP Profile.....there may still be some improvements that you could make.
