Over the last week had a phone call from Orange explaning the situation of my internet and have to say no joy from them,as i told them i was going to give them to end of the week to sort it but now today is sunday and they have not done it yet,so now they have left me no alternative but to cancl tommorw as Orange do not keep there promises so GOOD BYE Orange!!!
hi everybody been on sam knows web site and got some details from my exchange and can any body explain to me why it say's there is another service on your line that will provent an order of a another ADSL provider.
BT ADSL broadband availability
You are connected to the Shildon telephone exchange.
ADSL is available in your area
Your exchange is also enabled for ADSL Max services
According to BT Wholesale, your phone line should be able to support a 3.5Mbps or greater ADSL connection via ADSL Max.
Standard ADSL RAG results
You cannot receive 2Mbps ADSL
You may be able to receive 1Mbps ADSL
You can receive 512kbps ADSL
You can receive 256kbps ADSL
You are approximately 1.47km from the exchange. Note that this is the straight line distance - the actual cable length will be longer!
However, there is another service on your phone line (e.g. ADSL, LLU, DACS, etc) that would prevent you from ordering a new ADSL connection.
» Your BT ADSL code is: AEGEGEC
» Matched result using the phone you provided
hello everybody Orange phoned me yesterday and said that they are doing everything they can to even get me back the speed i was on,some how things have got worse this is now what my live box is reading now
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : G.DMT
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 28.8
Attenuation (dB) : 61.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 3168
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 512 64
and this what my account say's
We've checked out your line and your current speed is 512k - this is the fastest speed it can support.

They have dropped you off ADSL2 back onto their standard LLU and increased the Target SNR which effectively has lowered the connection speed but increased the connection stability.
Can you check a near neighbour's router stats ?....they need to be within 200 yards max of you to make any sense.
Attenuation is what you should check, if it's considerably less than your 61dB, say if it's between 40dB and 50dB, then there is a cabling problem between you and your exchange that only BT can sort and it needs to be initiated by Orange because you can't instruct BT directly.
No any ISP because the attenuation is the "digital mean" equivalent of the average distance between the NTE5 main BT box (the one you plug into) and the local exchange.
If you know anybody on BT IPStream (ISP either BT, Sky etc i.e. any of the ISPs with a red cross against them on Samknows site) then that would be good additional data.
If they said the line is capable of 7meg, then I suggest changing ISP provider. Orange told me that switching provider would not make my line any better, that it was BT's fault, or the phone exchange, etc, but when I switched to Sky 3 months ago, my internet has been fast and stable.
Leave them and go elsewhere to get a decent broadband connection!
Hi everybody and many thanks for all your post here.As today i have come home from work and put the computer on just to check if Orange had sorted my line out,and YES they have now back to where it was arriganly 2.5-3.0mb,plus got a phone call today asking if the line was stable and things were ok,as now they have told me the truth now about my line and that my line can only support 3.5 max because of BT not upgrading the exchange yet,not for another 2 years so 2.5-3.0 mb is better than 0.5 mb,don't know what to do though yet about leaving or not!!!!
I think the only way of getting more speed would be sort the attentuation(db),but that would be down to BT to sort out.

But that will only affect BT IPStream !.....WBC enablement is Q3 2011 at Shildon >>>> http://www.samknows.com/broadb...hange/NESH which means Shildon will then be ADSL2+ on a BT connection.
But you are on Orange's LLU equipment which is totally separate from any BT gear.
If your mate on TT a few doors away from you can get 7Mb from TT's LLU then you should be able to achieve similar from Orange's LLU.
It still sounds like you aren't connected directly to Shildon and this would explain Orange's response and also why your mate can hit 7Mb.
