Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 3200 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 669 kbps
669kbps!!!!! wow no wonder my internet is slow :/
I used other speed testers and they both gave the same sort of result however earlier when I did it I was getting between 1500 and 2000kbps.
So why is my internet connection only slowing down in the evening ?
just because more people are on at that time surely my speed shouldnt be affected by this
That's exactly it.
Orange buy IPStream capacity from BT. My guess is that as the LLU (Orange-owned) gear increases in more exchanges, they reduce the amount of capacity they buy from BT.....so less capacity means slower speeds for all during peak times.
o2 (now Sky) had a similar problem recently caused by the sudden influx of new customers. o2 (now Sky) had to buy in more capacity but this costs and is not as profitable as LLU revenue.
So don't expect Orange to buy in more from BT, just hope your exchange is LLU'd soon
