Yes, I had a skim through it again to see if I could spot a reference.
I've taken a gamble and removed the two connections (SSIDs) which had a number "2" after them. I get a warning stating I won't be able to automatically connect to them in future before I confirm their removal.
Doing that seems to end up leaving me with just the connection I'm currently using (even the "O2wireless" connection no longer shows in Vista's "Connect to a Network"), so I'm hoping that issue is resolved. I'll reboot now just to check...

550 RCPT TO:<xxxx@yahoo.com> Relaying not allowed - please use SMTP AUTH
error. And yet, this is the email address I'm naturally not using relaying on (as mentioned previously)!
OK my o2 (now Sky) address set up in Outlook Express is :-
Include this account when receiving mail or synchronising : ticked
POP : mail.o2 (now Sky).co.uk
SMTP : smtp.o2 (now Sky).co.uk
My server requires authentication : ticked
SMTP port 25
POP port 110

I'd been trying it unticked (in Outlook). Now that it's ticked (and with "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"), I'm not getting the undeliverable error.
So far, so good. Just waiting on the replies to see if my girlfriend gets them all and they arrive on desktops and laptops.
Thanks, yet again! I may actually be seeing a dot of light at the end of the tunnel...

The good: I discovered why the laptop isn't getting the o2 (now Sky) emails. When adding the account to one of the desktops, I forgot to tick the box to leave the email on the server! So if I downloaded it to that copy of Outlook first, it had of course disappeared when I came to do the same on the laptop.
The bad: The answer would naturally be to go to webmail and move the emails from the trash back into the inbox. One problem - they're not in the trash! There are no emails in any of the webmail folders even though I have never manually emptied any of them.
There is a box in the webmail settings to move deleted messages to trash, and that has been ticked from the outset, so I don't understand why they should have vanished. Any suggestions how to retrieve them or will I have to ask o2 (now Sky) themselves?
(I know I could forward them to the laptop but that would mess up things somewhat).
Solve this and my only issue (other than being disappointed that my stable speed seems to have been decided to be 4.5mb/s rather than 5.8 ) is that I can't seem to have any success forwarding a port for utorrent as the port always shows as blocked, despite following portforward.com's instructions.

I have an o2 (now Sky) email address (as i have an o2 (now Sky) mobile) and is pop enabled although i rarely use the address, i just looked in the webmail settings, mine is forwarded to another address, anything that is downloaded stays on o2 (now Sky)'servers unless i go in my webmail inbox to delete them manually.

If the "Leave copy on the Server" wasn't ticked then that's probably why everything has disappeared from webmail.
Your throughput speed will vary for a few days while the connection stablises also o2 (now Sky) are still making exchanges improvements, even my LLU speeds vary....strangely, they're usually better at night.
Search forum.o2 (now Sky).co.uk and beforum.co.uk for port forwarding threads, there are quite a few so you'll find an answer

My irritation with the server issue is, I suppose, directed at Micro$oft for making it the default setting not to leave a copy on the server, especially when more businesses and individuals have networks these days.
I had a vain hope that the emails would end up in trash (at least for a few days) before disappearing completely.
Since it was technically my error by not ticking the box, I'm frustrated at myself too. But still mainly at Micro$oft!
---------
I've posted on the email issue on the o2 (now Sky) and O2User forums so I'll be trying them for the port forwarding problem too.
Thanks again to both of you for all your advice and assistance.

Yes, one inadvertent slip up in the settings can cause one big headache
But at least you know the reason why......if it was Orange then you'd be deleting email accounts and re-creating them, re-installing OE, re-installing Windows, clearing out cookies etc etc

It's the first time I've made that mistake without being able to resolve the issue so hopefully it'll be the only time! At least I haven't actually lost the emails entirely. I have a trial of some synch software which may be able to send just those emails from my main desktop to the laptop before I synch everything from the laptop Outlook to the desktop Outlook. Why Micro$oft don't have a synch feature built in to Outlook as standard is beyond me (but then they probably want you to shell out for hugely expensive features you'll never use!)
