As Livebox was very poor for wireless connectivity, I switched to homeplugs a year or two ago ie ethernet cable from homeplug into Livebox, and in the room where my PC is an ethernet cable from the 2nd Homeplug into PC. Works a treat.
I now want to add a second Homeplug adapter, so that the PC can be used for surfing in one room whilst kids play online games on PS3 in another room. Homeplug instructions seem to intimate I need a combined modem/ router to achieve this - will the Livebox do the job?
Will I need to make any adjustments to the PC's network settings (os = Windows XP MCE)?
Sorry if this is a daft question, but my head is spinning.
The livebox is a combined modem/router, as you are already using homeplugs it I don't see a problem.
It is probably best to get a homeplug adaptor of the same type as existing.
You should not have to alter your PC settings. It would be best to give your xbox a static IP address as you may require port forwarding set up on your xbox..
I have just bought Three homeplug adapters in an attempt to get over the poor wireless signal strength of the livebox. I was interested to know whether you got your third homeplug working as I am having no success at the moment. I get the message - Limited or no connectivity - The problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address,
