Thanks so much! I am now online but I can't configure the livebox because it won't accept the username and password that I'm entering. Is it just the same as my Orange broadband username and password because this is what I've been trying but it's not working. The form asking for my details just keeps popping back up as soon as I've pressed ok.
Thanks again
The default livebox authentication is user: admin password admin
Ok, so I have the wired connection working. I cant go on that address you suggested because norton has suddenly decided that it doesn't like it and is blocking me from it, I've turned off the parental thing but it still won't let me on. Oh well, I hope that I don't desperately need it.
I want to use the wifi from the livebox for my ipod touch. The wireless livebox connection says 'not connected' at the moment and i suppose I don't want it to be connected because that would mean it was connected to my computer? I don't want to use the wifi to surf the internet on the PC I want to continue to use my wired connection.
My ipod can find the livebox under the 'Choose a network...' section but I can't connect. I have set the internet protocol for the wireless connection so that it obtains everything automatically such as the ip address.
I have set the Network Authentication to WPA-PSK and the Data encryption to AES. I have also set the network key to some value. It lets me join the connection because I enter the right network key but it says unable to join the network "Livebox-B1A0". Can anyone help me? Maybe I should put this in a different part of the forum.
Thanks
You need to press button 1 on the livebox and make the wireless connection within 10 minutes. You'll need the WEP key one way or another. Its available from the setup page ( http://192.168.1.1. ) which your AV seems to have taken a dislike to. Somebody said it was on the bottom of the Livebox. I haven't looked and grovelling around under the desk with my eyesight doesn't appeal..........
I'm still having trouble. I managed to get onto the configuration but i don't know where I should be putting the WEP key or what settings I should have for everything to do with the wireless in order to do this. Can someone start me from scratch and help me through it?
Thanks
You can get the WEP Key form the Livebox configuration page under "Security" and "Wireless Connection". As for what you do at the iPhone end, I haven't a clue. I'm not rich enough to own an iPhone.
You'll need to try and connect to the Livebox from the iPhone after pressing button 1 on the LB, At some point it will ask you for a key or a code to authenticate the connection, which is where you type in the WEP key. As I say I've no idea about the details.
Assuming you've got the Livebox connected wired and you can see the internet through it, the WEP key is all you need to get the wireless going.
I just managed to sort it out, I thought the password was one that I had set on the network properties but inj fact it was the actual WEP key! Thanks guys for everything epecially pluggy! Woohoo
Although i congratulate Pluggy on his helping i would not recommend following his suggestion of binning the CD. He is correct in his statements of not having to use it to get an internet connection working, but should the time ever arise where you get nothing but a solid arrow light after factory resets then you will need it for a firmware recovery, otherwise (depending on the Firmware CSR), you may end up having to wait between 6-10 working days for a new CD, firmware recovery attempt and if it fails, the delivery of a new livebox (that’s assuming everything goes according to plan with postage and Firmware CSR call-back).
