hey there , i just stumbled on these website , and thank god,
could someone please help me . i have been with Orange aka wanadoo aka freeserve for about 4 years. most off that time i was on a 2mg connection, i was pretty happy with it.
until i decided to upgrade to a 8mg connection last week.
my brother and upgraded 6months ago, that story ended by him sending it back to Orange.
any way my choice to stay with Orange has cost me rather than moving to "Be Broadband", as soon as i plugged in this livebox yesterday there has been nothing but problems
.i'm a memeber of the torrent community. and on my old 2mg i was downloading at 56kbps , a few nights ago i was useing my old thomson speedtouch 330 when Orange had upgraded my line , i was downloading at 550kbs , and i was omg this is amazing. but from ive installed this livebox i cant get over 20kbps like what the hell is going on.
i can't even revert back to the old speedtouch modem now that i have installed this modem , i tryied uninstalling the live box, and uninstalling and reinstalling the speedtouch to be faced with "the computer cannot connect to remote " such in such.
so could someone please tell me how to use my old 330 modem again OR
set this modem up that i can sort out my torrents, i have turned off the firewall on the Orange config , and i am currently not running any firewall,
any help would be a god send , best regards steve.

Firstly make sure you uninstall the existing 330 software completely before re-installing it, use Revo Uninstaller that will clear all traces of it.
Make sure you have the last released drivers for it and you download the correct drivers for your operating system.

The livebox is a router, it doesn't require drivers to function, it uses firmware, therefore there is nothing to uninstall as such.
Check the error code you get with the speedtouch modem. It has a few common DUN errors. 680 is no dial tone, thus no signal getting to modem, generally accompanied with a flashing ADSL light or solid ADSL light when the RJ11 isn't plugged in. 691 is an authentication problem with the username and password. 721 is usually a fault with the PPP servers not allowing connection to establish, usually accompanied with a solid ADSL light.
If you are using Vista ensure that the chipset you are using is compatible with the modem, you can check this on the website or through the PDF files you should have of your computer.
